Slightly mousey, sensed this with other cuvees from Guy Breton, but not before with the 2018 Morgon. Not for me today. Last of 12, so maybe past it's best.

Light red in color. 13% ABV. Charming nose of red fruits, citrus, baking spices and earth. Light to medium body with medium acidity. Crisp and refreshing. Bing cherry, mushrooms, nutmeg and minerals on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Delightful Beaujolais that is exceedingly easy to drink. Best over the next 1-2 years.

Ruby red in color. 13% ABV. Pretty nose of red fruits, soil and flowers. Light to medium body with exquisite acidity. Fresh, crisp and packed with crunchy fruits. Cherry, cranberry, strawberry and earth on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Delightful Beaujolais that goes down easy. Best over the next 2-3 years.

Pale ruby, thin rim. N: white pepper, tart cherry, damp earth, perfumed leather. Swirling reveals riper red fruit character. P: thin-bodied with very little tannin; sharp, piercing acidity. Low alcohol. Tart cherries dominate; white pepper (a different pepper character than Syrah) is there too. Hint of herbaceous character (oregano), minerals, leather, violets. Perhaps the barest hint of Brett. F: relatively long. No alcohol character. Cherry, white pepper, earth, leather polish. Delicious - even (especially?) when consumed without food.

Spicy and mellow, somewhat developed. Charming fruit with adequate levels of acidity and unremarkable alcohol, lively salinity and sensations of brown spice, most likely from the stems as well as from the used DRC barrels. Guy Breton always manages to steer clear of overripe heaviness, even in a warm vintage like ’18. This old-vine morgon gives so much pleasure right away, so why wait? Bright floral aroma with peppery red berries, pink eraser, and dried herbs. Salty dry cranberry fruit on the palate with a smooth tannic base and nice whisp of aromatic vinegar at the back. Excellent food wine with roast chicken and buttered broccoli.

Perfectly clean and precise berry aromas without any reduction. Typically for the vintage this is an ample, ripe and slightly sweet-fruited Morgon, yet with adequate freshness, soft tannins and agreeable balance at only 13 % abv. Monthly Tasting at Wine Wizards (Wine Wizards Stockton) : Totally uninteresting, light color, slightly buttery minty, merde. Looking at the only other tasting note and score, this might be a bad bottle but I don't think so, anyway am moving on to others that are good.

In a year where hail destroyed upwards of 80% crop for some Beaujolais winemakers, Guy Breton's Morgon is still seriously awesome. I love his wines first for the texture - so soft and supple, there is a concentration of fruit that doesn't need any defense from tannins or grip. They are comfortable and fluid, nearly creamy.
