Fenomenal wine. Big and bold, yet complex and sophisticated in an almost vulgar way. In a great place now and should stay at this level for slme years.

Sweet like a recioto and lacking tannins and acid.

Another Saturday at Chevalier...Mostly Blind Northern Italian Wine (Chevalier Fine Wines - Chicago IL) : Blind tasting, small glass, brief note. Black plum with both sweet and savory spice. Very dense and concentrated while also balanced and nearly elegant. Very long finish. Upside from here.

Blind N. Italian at Chevalier : This is so far outside of my strike zone -- very hard to understand and enjoy. Big nose of roasted, raisin-y black fruit. Palate is sweet, ripe and port-like.

After an hour of beathing this wine realized a rarefied elegance and opulence. Of course raisined fruits and if I was forced to give a criticism, it may have been a tad sweet. However, nothing about this wine was ‘over the hill’. A truly stunning achievement!

Quite impressive depth and performance. Started a little weak but it really improved with time and showed great promise.

TN: Quintarelli, Dal Forno, Bussola, Caprai, Bea ++ : I was worried. On opening, I noticed it has leaked at some point. The foil was stuck to the bottle. The cork was soaked completely on all sides and to the rim. Still, the fill was low neck. It did not smell good when opened but was allowed to breath for 12 hours. After about 6 the nose has calmed down and I was more hopeful. No need to worry as …

Very dark red, almost opaque, mahogany rim. Matchbox, raisins, gingerbread, coffee, truffle notes. Full body, very dry, with constantly growing bitterness and spiciness. Black pepper, dried cherry, mineral palate. Spicy finish, quite long. Lots of spice in the aftertaste, some bitterness too. Typical, relatively balanced given the style, but maybe still a touch too hot at least for me to be really enjoyable, needs food.
