Fairly similar to last time. Distinct anise on the nose, accented with black fruit and vanilla. Bigger bodied. Mostly a dark fruit palate with plenty of tannins. Long finish. Had this with food two out of three times and both times it didn't work out well.

Better now than it was about a year and a half ago. See that previous note for details. The anise is still present in the nose, but it is taking a back seat to blackberry aromas. Smooth tannins. Mostly black fruit flavors, with vanilla towards the finish, which is good but doesn't quite get to long.

I was expecting a lot more from this wine. This is the flagship red blend from Patit Creek, a meritage without the name. I'm hoping it was just in a down period and will be better next time. Slightly anise nose. Thin body. Some black fruit flavors on the palate. Short to medium finish.
