Domaine Michel Gros Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées

Was looking through the cellar and came across this orphan I forgot I had picked up somewhere along the way. I will probably forget I drank it in the not too distant future, so there’s symmetry for you. Soft red fruited, with lively balance makes it enjoyable, though lacking any real dimension or length, and a bit of 99s tannin still lurking

Spicy powerful vosne fruit. The clear fruit stands out. The wood is fully integrated making it a really harmonious and nice wine. Very long. Will hold for a while.

13.0% alcohol. Very nice showing here. Light red cherry color, clear at the rim of the glass. Slightly funky nose that blossoms with red cherry, floral, and spice notes. In the mouth, refined and delicately textured. The fruit creeps up on you, building as it washes across the palate. Floral and spice notes join a light kick of acidity. Fades a touch on the finish, but this is very good indeed. A-

1er crus red Burgundy - 1999 and 2001 (Frankfurt am Main, Germany) : (tasted single blind) Strong pinot on the nose, quite powerful and concentrated, nice fruit (raspberries mostly). A lot of smoke too (jamon serrano?!?). In the mouth very powerful fruit, very pure and almost candied (but no impression of sugar, only the taste).Nice balance, really mouthfilling with good density on the midpalate and rather high acidity level.
