Savart, L'Ouverture Premier Cru

‘24 Disgorg. Assemblage, 20% new oak. Some herby funky goodness, a markedly lower acidity than I’m used to, and a more round and fruity palate, it really leans into its own style, completely unapologetical. Luscious, fruity, quite primary, 3g dosage but quite ripe. Hmm. Fun drink, easygoing - maybe better with age?

Rose d’assemblage, belle robe Delicious, beautiful fruit here makes this a pleasure to drink bubbles or no. Zippy but not shrill. Very satisfying. A memorable rose champagne, one to reignite the love.

색: 분홍에 빨간 물감 한방울 섞은 느낌 향: 딸기믹스, 레몬, 오렌지 맛: 약간의 바삭함, 중간 정도의 바디감, 알콜이 살짝 튀는 느낌이 든다 총평: 괜찮게 만든 로제 샴페인. 다만 나는 투베르튀르가 더 좋다는 느낌이 든다.

Degorged June 2025. Quite fresh and lean for Pinot, faint red fruit, lemon, some grapefruit, decent length.

Disgorged October 2018, en magnum. Toasty with light hints of brioche, yet still hints of chalkiness. Very enjoyable, last of three.

DSG 11/2022. 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay Nose of bread crust, pear, apple, citrus, and a touch of vinosity. On the palate, while the last few Savart wines I've tasted could seem a bit robust, this isn't the case with L’Accompli, which benefits from a touch of Chardonnay that softens the vinous and spicy exuberance of the other cuvées. Paw copper in color. Pinot aromas of red berry with some autolysis brioche notes. Fairly austere, definitely extra brut. Good.

Smells nice, with some dough and apple. Citrus, and apple, a bit lacking in concentration. We were having some assorted cheeses and olives, and the wine showed better on its own, than with the food. Ann liked this a little more than me.

Deep lemon, nose is a bit oxidative. Palate is great texturally, balanced between bready notes, apples and pears, long finish. After time it takes on some more bruised apple notes but still very precise.

Swede Hollow; 10/26/2025-10/30/2025 : showing perfectly right now, has a seamless expression with elegant mousse and great finish.

This was bottle one of a blind tasting that my husband organized for me and a couple of friends so I had no opportunity to take copious notes. Light, crisp and fresh. Brioche, stawberries, precise and detailed.

Flûte Alors, Luxembourg - Disg Nov 22. Probably the same wine as my previous July 22 disg note. Pinot Noir dominant and it shows in the flavour profile. Drank too cold I believe in this occasion so expression will have been a bit muted. Very linear and consistent in its delivery with good drive.

Dsg 09/2022 Nose of crushed strawberry, raspberry, and lemon. Very invigorating palate, citrus dominates the attack, then gives way to tangy red fruits, raspberry, and especially crushed strawberry. There's some autolysis, great tension, but what a delicacy! This wine is savory, racy, and so pleasant. The finish is as vinous as it is lemony. An excellent blended rosé.

Skunked, and flat.

Dsg 01/2025 Powerful, vinous nose, red fruits and apple. Powerful and streamlined palate. Precise and vinous juice, complemented by aromas of hazelnut and white flowers. Second half of the palate reveals dried fruits with a good, very saline finish. Very good champagne.

July '23 disgorge. Now we are talking. The wine pours a pale pink in the glass. Pronounced, developing aromas of raspberry, strawberry (dried, fresh), dried orange peel, lemon (zest, juice), brioche, cream, wet rocks, smoke, and some leafiness on the finish. In the mouth, the wine is dry, with a delicate mousse, med bodied, high acid, med alcohol, pronounced in the mouth with a medium + finish. Overall, very good, can drink now, will improve with time in the cellar.

A wild and funky nose at first pass (initially concerning, but blows off with some swirling in the glass - not flawed). The palate carries some hints of sauvage, but is otherwise clean and correct. Unripe strawberry, warm rhubarb, dough, smoke, chalk, garrigue, and white melon rind. Loads of VA on this bottle, Sept '24 disgorge- what a bummer.

Very good Rose. Textural, so weightless on the palate with great persistence. You feel the Pinot in the blend, making it a bit vinous, leafy, stemmy, but balanced beautifully with racing acidity, juicy strawberries and cream, and just a hair of reduction. This was super yummy. One of the better Rose Champagne out there.

Creamy

Had a small taste on the first day. Very concentrated fruit. The yeast is sitting behind and somewhat separated. After 24hr slow ox, everything is in harmony. Very tasty pinot ripe fruit. Yeast is integrated and balanced. Acidity is present but not intrusive. I can drink this all day long.

The 7 Chabertin "Satellites" Grand Crus tasting : At the end of our Chambertin tasting as an outlook to the coming event - Grower Champagne - this famous Savart Cuvée did not disappoint. So fragrant, sweet spices, brioche, citrus raspberry, Pillowey mouth feel with a sappy finish.

Deg. 03/2024, 100% PN, 3.5g dosage. This is showing really nicely, open and radiant, with notes of small red berries, some herbal notes, there is some tonic, chalky minerality, but also some riper fruit notes, and just a touch of baking spices. Medium-full bodied, with nice pretty high acidity and overall a more vinous impression wiht moderate bubbles. Pretty long finish. A very nice L'Ouverture and a very good value.

Roses and Vosne 1ers at Cutlery Optional : Forgot to take a picture of the back label but disgorged in 2022 I believe. Consistent with my previous experience, a fresh and delicate rose with pretty red strawberry fruit. Texturally very elegant.

November 2024 Disgorgement, 3.5g/L Dosage. Beautiful freshness and precision, taut and saline. Simply stunning, one of my best experiences with Savart. Slightly short finish but went so well with Peranakan food. So gastronomic and fulfilling. Lovely dryness that was perfectly balanced by the slight extract. I've always thought that Champagne needed at least a year or two post disgorgement, but this bottling was already so lively and immensely giving that I might have to experiment more.

Brochet Family Tasting (Empire Chinese Cuisine) : 80% PN, 20% C, 5g/l, disgorged March 2017, creamy, floral, touch of oxidative and nutty notes, still lively on the palate. Drinking well.

The sample degorged December 2020 and have had som time resting in my cellar. Wonderful, complex and rich. Medium plus body, soft mousse, integrated acidity well paired with a mouthwatering bitterness backing up a mix of red fruit, hassle nuts, grapefruit and a plenitude of flavors.

Heavy mousse, with a quick, steady bead. Pale, brassy-gold in the glass - Fantastic nose on this, with yeasty brioche, poached pear, nectarine, honeysuckle, candied ginger, beeswax, and oyster shell. Palate carries over, with impeccable balance, and a lingering tangy/salty finish. Disgorged 2021 - Beautiful drinking now, and probably until 2045+. (94+)

Liked this more than last time, and showed a touch more oxidative than I remembered. A comfortable Champagne, plenty of fruit and flowers, some nuts, caramel and toast.

Pale more yellow then reddish. Raspberries, apple pie, brioche, creamy and floral notes in the nose. Rich taste, red apples, raspberries, lemon pie, creamy, sweeter finish than the dosage of 4 g indicate. The acidity is well balanced. Disgorged Dec 2020

Disgorgement 2024. 65% Pinot, 30% Chardonnay, Rouge d’Ecueil 5%. Dosage 4%. Medium+ nose intensity with notes of red cherry, bread, lemon, apple, toast. High acidity.

TCA... What a bummer.

Pretty pale pink. Sweet raspberry, mineral, and some pleasant oxidative notes on the nose. Really great texture, soft bubbles. Long finish that builds into a little bit of strawberry cream.

Similar note as last time. Faint red fruit, decent finish, good mousse. Nice and reliable.

Short note: broader style, a little oxidative, high minerality

12x Champagne (Various) : Tasted double blind. The highlight is the beautiful nose but on the palate Savart – as in my previous experiences – is a bit too acidic and misses finesse. This wine had some rather unripe Pinot notes too. Not a success. TN: Expressive nose with lots of forest berries at the core. Quite intriguing. At the palate less attractive with too much mousse and some hard edges as well as some green notes covering the beautiful …

Little Social Peranakan dinner : 65% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, 5% Rouge d'Ecueil. 3.5g/l dosage, disgorged Oct 2023. Very pretty pale salmon pink colour, palate had a similar finesse and elegance. Gentle, caressing cherry and strawberry fruit that made for a very dreamy and seamless wine. Price of this has been creeping up but would still buy this for S$120.

Disgorged September 2022. Rich fruit with a slight metallic note. Not bad but was hoping for better for the price.

(Disgorged in 2017) The nose presents notes of white flowers and light brioche. On the palate, it has a medium body, remains fresh, showing good acidity and a well-balanced profile. Overall, this champagne is quite good.

Hard to go wrong with a Savart… any Savart. Rich, textured, yet not heavy or cloying.

This sample, degorged 2019, had reached a level of maturity and were in very good condition.

A bit older disgorgement maybe 2019; this had great texture though still youthful, really pretty blue fruit, not as sharp and shrill as I was expecting, actually nicely fleshy with very fine bubbles; a wine you want to sit with for a while.

Lovely pink color. Notes of raspberry, strawberry, wet stones, cream, and chalk. Elegant and mild mousse. Also like a frizzante. I like it even better as the bubbles dissipate. Disgorged June 2021. 55% Chard, 40% Pinot, 5% Rouge d'Ecuail.

Nice fruit and great integrated oak. The bubbles disappeared fast though. Deg Jan 2022
