Pale to medium purple in the glass with a clear rim, a sign of its youthfulness. The nose offers ripe, juicy blackberries layered with violet florals, dried herbs, and a stoney minerality. On the palate, the same perfectly ripe blackberries, complemented by a touch of pepper, forest floor earthiness, and just a touch of cedar wood. Excellent acidity throughout and tannins are fine-grained and well integrated.

Blind tasted- went for merlot as nose was bouquet of dark fruit with med-low tannin. Colour was very purple. Came back after 4 hours and not a lot of evolvement. A tasty wine overall but I find it lacks complexity

Our last bottle and as seems to often be the case this was a big improvement on the previous bottles. Gone was the herbal iodine and now we had an essence of dark plum and woody licquorice. The wine is clearly very mature, plenty of bricking and it really needs drinking up.

Quite austere overall. Black fruit, some tar and earth, lots of structure: tannins and acids were quite prominent. Good, but subdued. This was my first bottle, so I don't know the aging curve.

Deep ruby with a touch of purple. Violets and pomegranates on nose and palate. Very long. Medium to medium plus weight. Nicely integrated tannins. Definitely a deftness of touch here and floral notes are key. Very well made made!!! Great great stuff....

Definitely something different from our Cab/Pinot dominated world of red wine. Signs of age with a transparent hue and hints of bricking. A slightly medicinal herbal edge to the nose and a palate that followed through with hints of black olive/tea reminding me slightly of southern Rhône wine. Needed food, in this case pork ribs. Probably needs drinking up, wifey was not keen on the finish.

This was certainly something different for us. We drank it with roast pork. It was dark, thick, dense somehow almost woolly. It had an undertone of dark fruit, possibly mulberry but was also earthy. An intriguing wine.

Pretty deep purple. Nicely structured. Dark fruits. Plums, but not over-ripe. Nice refreshing cool acidity running through this that was very mouthwatering. A herbal note of mint and perhaps basil. Pnp. Deep purple in color. Exhibits rich aromas of red/black cherry, blackberry, strawberry, pomegranate, and violet. On the palate, ripe flavors of aforementioned fruit are accented with sweet spice notes, grounded upon underlying minerality. Full bodied and elegantly crafted; modest acidity provides ample lift to carry through to long evenly distributed finish. This is well resolved as tannins are fully integrated and in the sweet spot. Medium garnet/ruby color. Beautifully expressive, with notes of crushed violets and lilies, some sappy red fruit, spices, also some herbs. It‘s medium-full bodied, has nice medium-high acidity adding superb freshness, it has some medium- tannin adding some grip too. Good length with plenty of freshness. A nice, precise and cooler wine that is great with a wide range of food. (92+)

PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Medium ruby with fine deposits. White peppery spices, florals, menthols. Fruits are in second layer and more evident on palate than on nose. More about minerality than acidity to me. Quite a lot but silky tannins. Good fruit concentration on palate with red cherries and plums. A little bit stiff in the nose. Not very fragrant at first and then flowers, Veilchenpastillen. Quite intensive tannic structure even in its 9th year. Initially there's some nice fruit on the nose and the palate (reminiscent of grenache for me), but it doesn't develop with air. In fact after an hour it becomes very ordinary: too much acid, totally out of balance. Edit: on tasting my second bottle (see later tasting note) I have to conclude that this one was flawed.

The wine is clear and has a ruby colored outer edge that darkens towards the middle. There is a strong scent of alcohol with hints of fig and cherry. I tasted cranberry and cherry with some woodiness as the tannins developed on the finish. There is a little imbalance between the fruit and the acids as the wine feels a little sharp in the mouth.

Gruvligt ung fortfarande. Massor röda vinbär, ceder, viol, lavendel och lakrits i doften. Knuten ung men ändå med fin balans. Svårt att identifiera enskilda smaker annat är röda vinbär. Men som sagt, det finns där! Minst tre-fem år kvar till sin topp tror jag.

Opened too early. This wine needs a few more years, at least two. The tannins were still in the forefront and the nose was reticent, but intriguing with floral and smokey notes.

light raspberry, flowers and blueberry scents, elegant, refined, juicy, blackberries, ripe cherries, wild strawberries, herbs and a hint of smoke, very balanced, I still have a hunch that these wines from Bierzo made with the mencia grape have high potential to age well due to the fact that the wine stays so fresh and evolves with hours and hours of air, the acid is perfectly proportioned, a nice accompaniment with a cheese stuffed pork loin roast
