Disappointing. Just not much there. Flat uninteresting, did not even finish the bottle. Have one more left, not sure what I'll do with it.

Cork was in excellent condition. Nose of celery, damp earth, dried cherries, and toasty oak with notes of coconut. Very elegant and polished on the palate. Tannins mostly gone and good fresh acidity. Very elegant and aged with beauty. Drink up.

While past its prime, apex of its drinking window, this will not improve any further with aging, but is holding its own and will likely remain at this level of its drinking window for a couple more years. Consistent with previous tasting of this label back in June of '19. Dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, this had bright ruby garnet color, very slight bricking at the rim, with the black cherry and black berry fruits having given way to …

This well-stored bottle had a rustic nose, with notes of mushrooms, earth, and blackberry. Its body was surprisingly on the light side, with slight bricking in the glass. There was some red fruit on the balance, along with a bit of tannic grip, which faded thru the finish. Mid-palate it showed some woodiness, rose petals, and more red fruit. It was clearly past its prime, but was delicious nonetheless.

En magnum from a friend. Delicious nose, good balance on the palate. Built more wait over time in the glass.

Dinner organized by Mark T with Paolo/Matt/Jack - generous contributions from our cellars (Wolfgang's NYC on 41st) : From Matt's cellar, served blind for a guess at origin and vintage. Most of us got Napa and old school (hint of BdX) , but not specific vintage. Medium ruby garnet, some cloudiness, separating at the rim. Nose showing dark fruits and faint vanilla oak. Palate was dusted red fruits, dark cherry, black raspberry, black tea and baking spice. On the mid …

Dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, this had bright ruby garnet color, very slight bricking at the rim, with the black cherry and black berry fruits having given way to the predominant signature nose and flavor of infused sweet oak layer for which the brand is known and famous. The black cherry and black berry fruit was subdued, somewhat Bordeaux like with accent by notes of spice, black tea and tobacco leaf with tangy acidity and soft moderate tannins on …

Beautifully preserved, could tell from rich ruby color and heavenly black cherry nose on 45-minute decant that this would be wine of the night. Tasted alongside Caymus Special and Spottswoode from same vintage, this Napa retained the depth of fruit, clarity and complexity of its youth. Longer lived than its Alexander twin, this wine surprised and delighted. Drink now and over next 3-5 years.

Still drinkable, but not for long. Some fruit, tannins pretty much gone. Must enjoy older wines to appreciate what's left.

Three first place votes including mine out of the six cabernets tasted. One last place vote. Dark beet red color in the glass, nose of mocha, vanilla, tea, and dark cherry fruit, more of the same on the palate, elegant tasting, the best tasting of the six cabernets after three hours and dinner, medium/big body, and long finish. Fabulous wine!!!

Medium red. Clear and bright in appearance. Nice red fruit flavours with a slight bit of menthol. Seemed like Bordeaux to me. Not at all sweet, ripe or alcoholic. Nice red fruit and menthol flavours. This was a beauty.

Bill's Monthly Lunch - October 2011 (Vancouver, BC) : Tasted blind – light to medium red with some bricking at rim. Beautifully mature nose of bell pepper, spice and soft red fruits. Nice acidity on the back end keeps the finish from drying out. This is at peak and fully mature, and while it’s not too old, it should be drunk sooner rather than later. This was even more Bordeaux-like than the L'Ecole 41. Excellent.

Tasted with friends at dinner. While the other wines were bigger (Harlan and La Mission) and younger, my friends liked this best. I liked the La Mission (2000). Typical Silver Oak sweet oaky nose along with soft dark fruit. Mature

Well rounded, some tannins still in there, drank it straight out of the bottle and it's definitely last stretch but still works and I am happy I have one more left :)

Excellent, 93. Nice from start to finish with nice oak taste. Had with grill cooked Fillet Mignon, canned corn and buns. Good even from the plastic cups we used. Heavey sediment.

I have fond memories of tasting this wine at the winery yeares and years ago. We decided to open this up for the 4th of July. Unfortunately, this is past its prime. However, it was a pleasant enough quaff. The nose was greeted with cedar and wooded fruits with a bergamot undertone. The eye saw a soft red brick. The tongue found tangy apple, dried herbs, soft tannins and nice level of acidity that made for a nice match to …

This wine is done. If you have a bottle still, drink it. Although still smooth and with the classic Silver Oak experience, this bottle has lost its complexity and is beginning to lose its structure.
