I bought a case from Wine Library. I have had 10 so far - all have been good. This bottle was defective. It wasn't corked but it had a strong musty smell and was undrinkable.

Popped and poured. Fragrant dark berry aroma. Rich cassis fruit, with earthy notes. Licorice finish. Nicely balanced package, with a firm backbone, a classic aglianico flavor profile, and good staying power. Great value.

I think the reason I got such a good deal on these is that they were heat damaged. Every bottle I've opened had extensive running down the cork, with one leaking. That said, the wine held up pretty well. Some dark fruit, raisin, earth and dried herb. Medium tannin and body. Everyone liked it, but I'm sure it wasn't at its best. Poured from magnum.

From magnum. Informal notes, dusty cellar, some dried and dark fruit. The cork had running all the way down and possibly leaked a bit, despite being stored properly on my end. Probably heat damaged, although it didn't taste cooked. The fruit seemed to have faded and the finish was short-medium., at best. Probably the reason I got mag's of this for $20. That said, it was decent for the price, but based on this bottle, I'd drink sooner than later. …

Nice ripe nose of dark fruit and mineral that transfers to the palate. Bold dark fruit is the star highlighted by great acidity and firm tannins. Allow to open first before dinner and you will be rewarded.

PnVnD. Medium crimson in color. Floral nose. Reminiscent of a Syrah with its meatiness. Tart cherries abound on the palate with a good amount of mouthwatering acidity. Went quite well with Mexican Cheeseburgers from Chew Out Loud (http://www.chewoutloud.com/2015/06/04/mexican-cheeseburgers/) Enjoyed in a Riedel Vinum Chianti Classico glass.
