Good solid wine but not a really great one. Very controlled with a creamy texture, moderate acidity and pretty well integrated tannins. More red fruited than black. Old-World/Old-School in nature. Certainly not over-ripe or over-extracted. 14.2% ABV. Moderately long finish. Probably better with food.

Not terribly complex and a bit thin. Some blackberry and maybe a hint of dark cherry in there, but lacking in overall substance. Not bad, but not great.

Decanted for 10 min. Smell: ripe cherry, plummy, spice, a little vegetation Taste: juicy, not much tannin, low complexity, medium acidity, medium finish & body Flavor: cherry juice and black tea. Not much else. Not bad, but doesn’t stand out as you’d expect a cab to. Honestly might not have aged well because we got this wine way before we knew how to store it properly. And our house literally froze during a storm while this was stored in our …

Intensely fruity, slightly sweet. Not much in the way of tannins. Very pleasant, though.

Virtual Men's Wine night (Zoom) : From carafes poured two hours earlier. Dense, elegant, and balanced on the palate with cassis, strong tannins, and some smoke on the finish. I think this would have benefited from more air or cellar time. My #2 of 5 and the group's #1.

Needed to decant and sit for a few hours. Nose: raisins, oak, light vanilla strangely enough Taste: the tannins left after a couple of hours, raisins, oak, stone, Carib.

Decanted 30 minutes. Drinking beautifully, more complex, deep color, long finish. Last bottle of a case. Great from the beginning and got better all the way through the whole case.

Decanted two hours prior to roast beef dinner. On the palate, the fruit is expressive, but not overpowering. There is enough age that some earthiness is starting to manifest. Undertones of dust and leather combine with dark fruit to make this a very enjoyable wine that is drinking very well now. Tannins are relaxed allowing a sumputuous, balanced mouthfeel with a finish that lasts a minute or longer.

'94 vs '97 California Cabernet Sauvignon : The most promising wine of the '97 flight, very structured with lots of fruit. A bit tight tonight, this would show better with an extended decant. This would be the only wine of the '97's that I think would be much improved in 5+ years, where the others will be on the downslope.

Excellent! Took half and hour to open up. Fabulous mature Calif. Cab. Dusty flavors, blackberries, tobacco. Great wine. Drank next to a 2000 Ridge Monte Bello and we all preferred the ZD.

full oaky fruit, really really nice wine. Plenty of life yet, nice mellow tannins, just a notably good glass of cab.
