Based on how much I've loved other vintages of this, and how much I paid for it, I really wanted to love this bottle too. But it's speaking a different language tonight and I'm not understanding it. There's a lot going on but it feels out of sync, cacophonous, and more academic than pleasurable.

Initially closed but after 15min in the glass opening up nicely. Wonderful nose of stone fruit, quince, bruised apples, almonds, pear. Rich on the palate, earthy and masculine for a BdB, reminds me almost of a Clos des Goisses. Lovely tertiary notes on the finish. This is grand, great QPR too. 95+

One of the pioneers in organic farming in champagne in the 90s when production of champagne was much more industrial than artisanal. Rich, powerful champagne, plenty of red-fruited character that made people think this was a Pinot heavy champagne. Despite the low dosage (2g/l), it appeared a little sweet with the fully ripe fruit and oak usage that gave some yeasty notes. Always held back from buying this producer because of supposed variation but this was a very good bottle.

New Years Day: Vrai Champagne, Fourth Annual Edition (Brad & Marcia's Place, St. Paul, MN) : Light medium gold color. Pear, filberts, structured and deep, this carries some weight, firm but still round and yeasty. 92+pts.

A bit sharper than '06 and '00 we had alongside, you can feel the vintage right away, acidity is prominent here. There's some fermented fruits here initially but with some time in the glass it opens up nicely. Has this prominent oiliness not unlike '06 and '00 and develops classy creamy notes with time. Give it time in the glass and it will shine.

Buttery sweet, lush, giving nose, complete and harmonic. Lush and simply tasty. Fat, ginger, exotic fruits, not too chalky.

My last bottle; still very refined, superb fine mousse and and flowery bouquet. The midtaste is concentrated and elegant and the aftertaste keeps the mouth very fresh. Drink this Champagne now.

Larmadier-Bernier is always trustworthy when it comes to producing elegant blanc de blancs with a strong minerality. This is no exception. Straw yellow, beginning maturity of colour, persistent and small bubbles. Intense nose of red apples, chalk and yeast/bread. Rich, light bronze gold colour with persistent bead; gently voluptuous aromas of dark peach flowers, orange zest and spiced tea, yet it shows the classic restraint and finesse of Cramant; a lovely palate of lemon curd and restrained orange tones, gentle touches of oak fermentation. Typically pristine Larmandier Bernier style with tingling light minerality, it shows the warmth of the vintage but transcends it with gently powerful intensity.

Butter scotch, caramel and ginger bread. Mature and balanced. Long after taste with a hint of burnt sugar. Delicious and the best as well as oldest VV de Cremant I have tasted. Will stock up on the 2008 and hope for the best!

Since the last year it has become a bit more full bodied. More butterscotch and cream, hasn't lost the white fruits or balance. Excellent, and one of my favourite bottlings by grower in its unapologetically hedonistic style.

Incredibly long. Very restraint and very deep. Chalky, buttery, shiny, sweet/ripe. Dosage 2g/L. Ethereal, pure terroir. One of the rare wines with wow effect.

Medium to dark yellow-gold color with a dense body - almost creamy; medium-high acidity. The palate has highly-concentrated flavors of hazelnut, pear, sunflower. It's not for the faint of heart, this rich, structured wine goes well with strong cheeses and even some meats. Finishes long and sumptuous with hints of vanilla and toasted oak. Très étonné par le style de ce V.V. de Cramant... Bu à l'aveugle, il offensait le palais par son boisé excessif. Jamais je n'aurais dit qu'il s'agissait de cette cuvée tant le souvenir des 2002 me rappelle un champagne tres calcaire, très frais et citronné. Au demeurant, ce 2006 se montrera a son affaire sur un repas, avec sa belle longueur et son coffre. 90/91 dans 2/3 ans

Blind. Modne epler, litt ananas og autolysepreg. Fin mousse, litt flat munnfølelse. Medium konsentrasjon og medium minus friskhet. Brukbar lengde. Ålreit vin, men mangler litt spenst og nerve. Relativt mye bitterhet i finish. Har kanskje noe å hente med tid? Nailet (griseflaks😄) landsby og årgang. Med fasit i hånd, var dette noe skuffende.

Pleasantly full, even rich nose compared to Terre de Vertus. Nose of grapefruits, mild, but ripe fruits. Certain roundness and excellent balance. Good, juicy fruits are coming forward and it will be excellent when it loses some of that accidity and more creaminess and fudge will come forward.

Sort of the polar opposite of the Terre de Vetus--with richer, apple tart notes, dusty Cinnamon, good minerals although more in the background than with the Terre, fuller body, darker color, as it should be going from 1er cru to GC fruit I suppose. Soft golden hue. Lush brioche, wet stones and apples. Like a feather pillow in the mouth but with beautiful, minerally fruit - no obvious sweetness but certainly not as austere as the low dosage (2g/l) might suggest thanks to obviously top drawer fruit. Preferred it cellar cool and with some time in broader glass to let it open up.

Two years after my previous note, this champagne was again satin like, perfect mousse, a tip of cocoa and very well balanced.

Domaine Champagne tasting : Wow, after two bottles from Mesnil this Cramant really showed what different terroirs were all about. Much more expressive and intense! Fresh, creamy vanilla note, creme brulee, lovely grapefruit bitterness on the finish, more pronounced citrus cut throughtout all the palate. Powerful, serious, loved it.

Rockstar Champagne... like, all of them (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR) : Very rich, lush aromas. Some nice minerality. Pretty, nice and cutting. Very very soft texture. Some nice fruit is present on the palate, including apples but also some red fruit. Nice minerality, too. Very nice luscious body fills the palate on the finish. Very zippy lingering acids. Quite sharp, but very nice.

Straw yellow with light golden reflections. Medium-low intensity nose, chalk, butter, silex, bread, somewhat floral. Elegant and delicate, moderate amplitue and evolution, very well balanced, medium body, creamy. Long aftertaste of medium intensity.

No, not 99 points, but I wasn't diappointed. It is a super fresh champagne with a balance you don't expect from the burnt 2003 vintage. No hard edges, just freshness and white fruit. The aftertaste is medium long (that's why I give 'only' 94 points); pure and perfect now, perfect the next 3-5 years.

Opened on Xmas day with parents for lunch at their kitchen table overlooking the snow and neighborhood. This wine is simply perfect, especially now. All you could ask for in a champagne: color, elegance, deep nose and concentration, light and umami all at once. speaks of time and place, truly profound, bordering on life changing.

Technically NV but the fruit is all 2006. An elegant and vinous champagne. This champagne seems to be driven primarily by minerality, but manages to integrate what fruit it has seamlessly into the palate. And with air, you can really sense the flavors transmute, from a little bit of apple and then to something citrus-like late, and it was a joy to sense the flavors slowly gain intensity with time in the glass.
