tasting Day and visit throughout Rhone Valley, north to south... : compared to the CDR 2016, this one is a lot more powerful, yet not as easily approachable, from 50 Syrah, 40 Grenache, and 10 Carignan, the nose is refined with ants of black olive, some tapenade, flowery, very sapid, good structure and body, nice, would hold for 5+

in a very good condition now. everything you expect from a rhone. Some barnyard, meaty notes, provence spices, plum. With just a little air in the glass good balanced. minerality, acidity and smooth tannins. Very good QPR. best with food, very drinkanimating.

My impressions of this wine were different this time. The last bottles were consumed at dinner. This bottle was served around the fire pit with a few other bottles. There was no mistaking that this was a Rhone wine. Lots of meaty, gamey character, some Syrah funk, black pepper, leather, a little earth, and I believe a touch of brett. The fruit is ripe but there is good acid to balance it. The bottle didn't last long.

Similar impressions as with the last bottle about ten months ago, though I would say the ripeness stood out even more this time. This one also showed a little meatier. I like the acidity in this wine but it is little riper and more candied than I prefer. Ann liked it.

More syrah here than the Font. Grippy and even bigger. Lots of tannins. Great mid palate though, has the fruit ot hold it together.

I found this wine a little confusing. The fruit is very pure, almost jammy and red in nature. Ripe, red cherries. The fruit seems very modern and new world. However, it offset with mouthwatering acidity, and there is quite a bit of very fine tannin. The long dry finish, the acidity, brings you back to the old world camp. In contrast to The Rhone Report, I didn't find northern rhone characterisics like olive and bacon fat - though I would …
