Definitely better on Day 2: nice fruity nose of blackberries, blackcurrant, cherries and plums. A touch of vanillin oak. Not much complexity on the finish though. Tannins are smooth. At $20 sale price it's not bad, but not worth the supposed $50+ RRP

Trying this again, over three days. Day 2 was the sweet spot, with the palate starting to match the nice nose. By Day 3 it was starting to go downhill, with porty oxidised flavours. See previous note re flavours, tannins are smooth, finish is medium. I would say this is a drink in the next 3-5 years - doesn't have long term cellaring potential. Apparently this was an export version of the 1887 Vines, which wasn't released in 2009

There's a nice, fruit-driven nose here: classic Cabernet flavours mixed nicely with Shiraz: blackcurrant, blackberries, blueberries, plums, sour cherries. There's some oak notes as well. The nose is better than the palate however, which still tannic and a little unbalanced. Finish is medium. Not much secondary notes despite the age. Hoping that this might get better with more time, though unsure of whether that'll happen. At $20/bottle it's not bad, but not great either.
