This is the robust style of southern Rhône with savoury dark fruit, touches of iron and spice, decent acidity and backbone firmed up by 14.5% alcohol as well as tannins. Good.

Last Bottle, but best showing over the last 4 years. Decanted for a couple of hours and ate with steak. Upon opening, the nose was muted but came to life with the decanting. Some dark berries with smooth tannins.

Weekly tasting group #012; Southern Rhône (@ VD) : The bouquet is still a bit locked, but it shows some cherries, garrigue and autumn forest. On the palate very juicy cherries, firm tannin (which is a bit drying in the finish) and bitterness. There is good acidity as well. Young maturity now and I expect this will still be a pleasure in 2015.

Last of several bottles consumed, very consistent experiences. Vivid garnet color. Subtle raspberry nose, light herbaceous nature. Raspberry notes continue, medium plus acidity, medium alcohol, medium tannins. Balanced. Not a blockbuster, but certainly a value table wine for regular consumption. Enjoyable Grenache.

Clean and serviceable. Only mid-weight and correct rather than interesting nose. I find the Perrin house style rather ungenerous and this wine speaks of this rather than vintage or appellation.

Very enjoyable, drinking beautifully now with enough composition to dependably last for at least another four years. Black and red fruits, ample nose, supple tannins, admittedly it was even excellent in a plastic cup! (Oh how I hate to admit that.)

This bottle is drinking much better than my last. The barnyard stink was totally gone. Hints of mocha with a nose that jumps out of the glass. I drank this with some farmers sausage and it was quite yummy. It has a little heat, but was quite smooth.

blind tasted ... the key hint was the heavy thick skinned mouvedre -- lots of alcohol and rich dark black flavors ... seemed like a warm region, s. France, could have been a languedoc blend. Perhaps the absense of carignan should have pointed to rasteau
