Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Clos Vougeot

Bt breathed for a few hrs, dark garnet yielding red fruits with strong floral aroma and oak spice. Massive concentration of sweet fruits, mildly acidic but there is enough tannin to keep the finesse. Oak spice dominated mid palate, perhaps needed more cellaring time. Good juice nonetheless.

Bonhams Pre-Auction Tasting (San Francisco) : Medium ruby. Some secondary perfume. Meaty black fruit with nice incipient complexity added by woodsmoke. I was shocked by how open this seemed, especially in comparison to the 1990 de la Tour. Should turn out to be at least excellent.

I was shocked at how open this is coming across tonight (it had been open just a couple of hours with a quick double decant). Cross-section of red fruit with some black berry hints, all highlighted by excellent Asian style spice. Excellent length and harmony.
