Through an Ullo and into a beaker decanter for 30 min. Plenty of of sludge on the cork and in the bottle, so decant was necessary here. Dark and inky with a reddish purple rim, lovely visual texture, definitely good extraction on this wine. Nose—saline, wood, dried currants, dried florals, hints of perfume and fresh crushed red and black berries. TRB in the house and boy this is good! Bold, yet creamy texture right up front with blackberry, blueberry, and black cherry fruit. Has some notes of black licorice and dark chocolate with some subtle tobacco and earth on the end. Big mouthfeel to this wine, great structure and the finish goes on and on. Supple tannins on the long finish. This can easily lay down for many years.

Birthday bottle. An all around winner.
