Air has helped a lot. It was a little closed initially. Not that it was bad but I read the reviews and I was in doubt. I’m happy I opened it. It’s been a few hours bottle open. Pop and pour. Loads of pear and pomegranate on the nose. On the palate: solid acidity, juicy red fruit, light bodied, but fruity and simple. No real tannin on the spicy finish. Ok, but fairly generic OPN.

Solid mid-priced Pinot Noir. May benefit from age, but drinkable now. Ripe bread, cherry and overripe strawberry, along with a little forest floor. Medium tannin with a little thicker viscous texture. M/M- acid. M body overall. Could be a little more balanced, but good QPR.

With Penner Ash and Beaux Freres, one of my favorite Willamette Pinots. Medium ruby,significant rim variation. Drinking well now with nice tertiary notes. Five more years tops. Powerful, complex nose of dark cherry, boysenberries, powerful mushroom, tea leaf, forest floor. Medium acidity low tannin with persistent fruit right through the balanced extended fisish. Labeled Old Vine which is significant because Hylandsnis one of the 1970s Oregon wine industry founders and,in my option, underrated.

Quite fruity on the nose of this nearly translucent red-ruby wine, with dark cherry, some spice, and, well, a whole lot of verve. Sub 20$ (17$) Pinot at Costco....25$ plus at normal retail. A touch of menthol and dark cherries on the nose. Raspberries/cola and forest/earthiness with black pepper and nutmeg on the finish. Very good. Went back the next week and got 3 more. Stock up.

Dark fruits, earth, spice - just what I expect. But also a bit soft and with riper fruit than I hoped for.. I continue to have trouble finding lean, silky, elegant Oregon pinots and while this is a nice wine with good flavors, it's not ltraditional Wilamette Valley. A lot of Oregon pinots seem to taste more and more like they are from California - and this is another example. At the same time, it's a nice wine for $30.

The Fourth Annual World’s Largest Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir : Retail $45. A bit dark in the glass with a real meaty, almost salami-like aspect. Interesting. Medium purple and darker than most other 2019's I've tasted. Jammy cherry and raspberry, some baking spice, and some lower level earthy notes. A little bit of alcohol warmth in the aroma (label says 13.8% which seems high for what was a cooler year). Medium body and medium acid. Fine, silky tannins in the finish.
