Lovely crushed fruit and mineral nose, medium rich on the palate, just delicious, lush, beautifully balanced, wonderfully complex, lasting finish, fantastic.

Have had a few bottles go premature on me, but this one is perfect. All the lovely intensity of stone fruit fruit, peach pit, some nice light savory notes, turning lightly mineral as the finish fades slowly. Wonderful acidity provides interest and balance. Not quite as complex as this wine can be, but plenty of subtleties to hold one’s attention. Delicious, mouth coating, lovely wine.

Dinner à 4 chez NC; 6/29/2024-7/29/2024 (Beckenham) : Linseed oil and a touch of cashew on the nose. Conkers. A little hint of cinnamon. Puckering, grapefruit and ginger. Oily texture. Great.

This bottle is flawed. Color is dark brown and it tastes like sherry. Most of the distinguishing features are gone. Too bad. Not sure if it was a bad bottle or if I aged it too long, but my 2013 felt young at 7 years in.

Lovely now. Compact and very graceful. Acidic structure frames white fruits and a slight salinity.

Served blind - guessed Chardonnay from Sicily. Nice example of the minerality of Albarino. Drink.

Exotic bouquet profile w. gripping acidity in the back. The body is rather light but feels more pronounced due to alc. and fruit - mainly pineapple - w. some bubble gum. Mid range finish. Wouldn't call it a keeper.

A superb and vibrant Albariño - this is hitting on all cylinders right now. Heaps of lemon and lime fruit, but not austere and acidic...what this reminds me of is a great grosses gewachs but it’s really it’s own thing. I’ve had a lot of good Albariño but this is really special.

Light honey gold color, a lovely faint rich fruit nose, with just a slight hint of savory dried herb; such a beautiful wine, has a sense of richness to start, then slowly fades into a sinewy, taut, mineral finish, hint of umami saline, layered, complex, elegant yet with underlying power. A fabulous rendition of what is always a wonderful wine.

First time this wine (any vintage) didn't rock me. Not that it was bad - all the mineral, tight tonic fruits and structure were there but I never felt harmony with the wine. Likely me.

Nose: The nose is lively, deep, and layered with crushed rocks, pears, white fruits, saline, peaches, stone fruits, lemon peels, and salty notes. This is a nose that is easy to get lost in and it is wide open right now. Taste: The feel is medium bodied with racy, high acidity. The feel is pure class and deep with crushed rocks, pears, white fruits, salty notes, lemon peels, and peaches. Overall: I love this wine as it is right at …

Gold with greenish hues. Intense bouquet: toasted, floral and citrus notes. Mineral, salty and citrussy with grapefruit, pear and a touch of tropical fruit. Aniseed, mint. Round & complex wine. Not as tense and energetic as previous vintages tasted. 200 year old wines - battonage.

Am sure this does better in blind tastings as expecting an Albariño we were scratching our heads - minerality, yes; complexity, for an Albariño, yes. Overall, a bit meh... An interesting wine, but I’d spend my money elsewhere (unless hosting a blind tasting with money on the table!)

Sunday blinds (Chicago, IL) : Served double blind. This is probably to albarino what Vatan is to sauvignon blanc, so it wasn't exactly easy to pin down, except via some deductive reasoning. There's a bit of ester on the nose (like banana-ester-synthesis day in organic chemistry lab), but otherwise, this is dense and minerally, with a broad texture that is expansive but not heavy. Really nice acidity too, but the alcohol pokes out just a little.

This is some serious Albarino that has a lot more heft and complexity than is typical for the region; A concentrated core of stone fruits, tropical fruits and floral notes, with an intense saline minerality on the finish; Likely will become even more interesting with a few years in bottle
