Drank at Lincoln Ristorante in New York at Lincoln Center. Paired with duck pasta. Needed an hour of air. After that, just singing. Still ruby red and youthful! 10 more years left at least. I sourced this wine at Enoteca Cotti in Milan. The owner sourced this himself from Rinaldi upon release and it was sitting in the store's cellar until I purchased it. Amazing end to a wonderful wine-filled weekend (Vinous Icons - NYC)! Brad - heavypourwine.com

A lighter-toned fully mature barolo. Stewed strawberry, tea, fallen leaves, dried leather. Some of the tasters adored this, I thought is was good but preferred the 1967. As part of a barolo tasting spanning 70 years of vintages. Remarkably no bad bottles which is a nod to the aging potential of barolo. Certain tasting notes were present in all- worn leather, rose, tea. The primary variables were the extent of fruit and if light or dark fruits. Riservas not surprisingly …

Leather and menthol on the nose. Smooth and supple on the palate. Soft, a bit soapy, lively.

Quite nice and classic with a few hours of slow-ox.

Opened and double-decanted and then stuck a slow pourer in. Drank about 5 hours later. It's drinking nicely. The way you'd like old Bordeaux to go. Sometimes find these old F. Rinaldi's don't really have the age that you'd expect from them. Much fresher in style. Still has the darker fruits. Really enjoyed.

The nose was fully mature, showing moist earth tones, sous bois, dried florals and hints of clove. On the palate, I found soft textures with hints of dried red fruits, minerals and a zesty wave of vibrant acidity. The finish was medium-long, showing dusty tannin and lingering acids against dried cherries and hints of inner florals. This was very pretty yet on the downward slope.

Fireworks for January: plethora of top wines with great friends (Black Salt Restaurant, Washington D.C.) : Elegant if giving off a somewhat diluted impression. It is refined enough, but lacks enough grip and focus to truly compel the taster.

A beautiful bottle of mature Barolo. It had complex aromatics of tar, dried fig, earth and spruce. The palate was lively. There were some balsamic notes from the wines volatility and crisp red fruit flavours mixing it up with all of the savoury earthy things. The's still excellent grip to the finish and it has great drive and length.

Twelfth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL) : In Piedmont flight #1...the oldies. Good mix of mature red cherry, anise, spice and earth. Lots of good things, still nicely fresh for its age, but modest length and concentration. Best of the flight.

Drank this wine to celebrate a wine mate's birthday at Extra Space, Boon Keng. One of the oldest wines i have tasted. Fruits are barely holding up, with some secondary notes nicely developed and evolved over time.

Team Pete Dinner (Cove99, Peck Seah Street, Singapore) : Really enjoyable, but this still needs some time in the bottle. Opened 24 hours before serving, it kicked off with a classic Barolo nose of ashy smoke, dried herbs and flowers wed to shades of sweet dried berries and cherries with a little toss of earth at the sides. It was very youthful on the palate, which still had a spine of fine-boned tannins and sprightly acidity running through good flavours …

Beautiful, beautiful aromatics. Almost a shame to drink this wine. The palate started off austere but was coming around a couple of hours later (in a decanter), by which time it was gone.

I popped this about 4 hours before dinner and was shocked at the color, a deep orange. However, there was a core of sweet fruit hidden in there, and so I let it sit in the cellar while I prepped the main course, a whole-roasted duck with bitter greens and sauteed mushrooms. When we went to pour it, it had become much redder than orange, and the fruit was slightly more upfront. But within minutes of pouring, it actually got …

Old Nebbiolo at Tolani (Upper West Side, NYC) : Medium garnet color, cloudy. Savory nose, lots of beef broth and soy, a touch sherried. Medium bodied and racy on the palate with residual, grippy tannins. I think this may have been somewhat over the hill.

Old Nebbiolo at Tolani (Upper West Side, NYC) : The 1974 Francesco Rinaldi showed its age with notes of beef broth, dried leaves, salinity and earth. On the palate, this wine was lean at first, as the beefy broth continued and was joined by faded red fruits and old barrel’ but with time in the glass, it began to turn sweeter and rounder with notes of brown sugar. The finish was remarkably long with hints of pipe tobacco and earth. …

Mature Barolo Dinner: 1952-1974 (Lupa Trattoria, San Francisco, California) : Cloudy, bricked, medium dark red color with pale meniscus; maturing, cocoa powder, dried berry, hazelnut, "brooding" nose; odd, narrow, tart currant palate, a little dried out; medium-plus finish

What a well stored bottle. It was not until the second day that this wine became itself. At first the wine was an opaque red with a little brown on the edge. Much later there was no brown only a beautiful hazy red color with pink tint. The nose was also initially veiled. There was a nice cologne smell along with some earth and a nice sweet plum aroma. It took the second day to reveal the true taste of …
