Other than cork problems, this wine was everything I remember from a few years ago. Outstanding example of petite sirah

Finishing the remnants of Friday’s bottle. Plum, blackberry liqueur and licorice notes with warm spice undertones. Full and rich, with wonderful dark plummy fruit, blackberry, blueberry compote and chocolate flavors.

Double decanted three hours before service. Opaque red with a clearing rim. Spicy fruit nose. Palate was pretty tannic initially but started to balance. Really nice dark fruit palate. An excellent wine in a good drinking window with years of life left.

3rd Friday Group Tasting (EBCC) : Double blind. Loads of black fruit, slightly grapey, with spice and licorice notes as well. Full-bodied, with soft tannins and flavors of black fruit, blueberry, pepper and Asian spice. Excellent. (J&J)

Remains outstanding! Remarkably aromatic, dark with subtle bricking and rich mocha, ripe dark berries, Brazil nut and white pepper flavors. Acid, tannin and oak fully integrated as you'd expect, but still has freshness and dusty tannins present, so still has runway. Perfectly paired w sous vide prime shortribs. Continue to be amazed by these older Arroyo petites. Bravo!

This drank beautifully after years laying down. 5L bottle certainly contributed to that.

In awe of this vino! Chocolate covered balck raspberries right out of the bottle. After a couple hours open, spice, leather and Brazil nut flavors develop. In spite of copious sediment in the bottle, there's still tannin structure and just enough acidity to give some more runway for further development.

Still in prime Drinking Interval. Tannins were smoother and the red and black fruit more prominent the second day when I drank the second half.

Beautiful full Bodied wine with nice tannins and long finish. Notes of dark fruits on the palate including black cherry, blackberry and plum. Drink with many food options including red meats or even shrimp and pasta.

Dense, dark fruits, very tannic. Lots of depth and complexity. Great with steak.

Nice wine, mellowed out after an hour of decanting, still going strong. Aged Vinnies rarely disappoint.

The body is full. It tastes like blackberry, red currant, pomegranate, cherry and raisin. The wine looks inky colored. There is heavy sediment in the bottle.

The 2003 and 2004 both continue to impress! Still plenty of acid, tannin and concentration of dark fruit to continue for another 4 or 5 years. Dark in color with a moderately yielding nose of herbs, cedar and bramble. Blackberry, stewed plums and dried fruits mingle with dark cocoa and tobacco notes with tannin still not fully integrated. Opens up beautifully over 2 or 3 hours - wow!

Wow, still in fabulous shape. Dark red in color. The palate is full of sweet red fruits. This wine is still not fully mature. Drink now with a decent decant, or let it alone for a few years. Bravo!

Since I will be moving in 2017 I have decided to drink my verticals. I have most years from 1990 to 2014. Decided to try a 2004 and a 2010. The 2004 was excellent. Well integrated, pretty big with solid tannins.... one of the best of Vincent's Petites I have had... and I have had LOTS. The 2010 was good, but not as solid as the 2004.

Good not great. Dark and thick. Typical chalky tannins have lessened, but too many green and herbal notes to let black fruits show through. May be in a weird spot.

Having just had the 2013 VA last week, it's hard not for this bottle to be overshadowed. Blackberry, burnt wood nose; feminine, soft, dried berry palate; good structure, mid finish. Good effort.

Love these VA Petite Sirahs. Getting tart red raspberry and black pepper with a chalkiness on a light tannic finish. This wine went perfectly with Anita's incredible homemade enchiladas, which are generally difficult to pair with, but this wine does it.

An hour of decanting did wonders for this wine. Nice inky color and body. Dark fruit and a good dose of both acid and oak, which remained through the long finish. Very good example of what I like about this winery's petite sirahs.

No formal notes taken - this was singing with Christmas Eve dinner. Fully resolved tannins, plush fruit with an old world character to it, perfect acidity and balance. Wish I had a few more of these laying around.

My 35th B-day (Capital Grille & mi Casa) : 90 upon opening and 93 with the last taste. A very dark and inky big PS. It was oozing dark fruit and black pepper. A little one dimensional but in this case this is not a bad thing, the fruit shines so well and drinks so smoothly. Drinks well upon opening and showed well after 3-4 hours of air.

Vincent knows Petite Sirah and this IS the real deal. Drinking wonderfully right now. Can it get better...? Perhaps, but it's sooooo good now. Great balanced structure of deep dark black fruit, integrated tannins & layers of spices & oak with good finish length. Time to break out other VA '04 Petites (Greenwood, Rattlesnake & Reserve ) for a horizontal tasting.

It may lack the berry fruit quantity and finesse of the Girard PS from the same vintage I had the night before, but this had all the tannin and brawn and earthiness the Girard was missing. Great, fun, rugged PS. I originally scored this an 88, but after further consideration I upped it to an 89.

Outstanding wine finally hitting its stride. I've been drinking the 2003 in front of the 2004 waiting for the 2004 to get there. . . And it has. As expected it is masculine, dark and inky but the rough edges are now polished off and it has developed layers of flavors that are still well framed by oak, acid and tannin. I will continue to enjoy the 2004 over the next 4 or 5 years.

14.8% alcohol. This wine was served to me in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. It was serially tasted over three hours. The bottle was kindly brought by Ken Johnson. This wine shows the absolutely blackest, most opaque robe that I have ever seen. I immediately guessed this to be a Petite Sirah even before tasting it. It requires at least 90 minutes prior to making any judgment. The nose shows very intense aromas of crushed blackberries, vanilla and assorted …

You need to give this wine 90 min to open up. It will go from tight and green stems to solid, dark fruit, chewy, big structure; excellent with red meat or duck preparations.

Opened and poured- no decant. Bright color and floral nose lead to a big bowl of blueberries with softened (but still a little angular) tannins. This wine is definately in a good place now, but is still on the upside of it's long life. Drank with Loweel in NYC along side a '03 VA PS Rattlesnake Acres (a huge muscular wine). Drink from 2010 to 2018.
