dark ruby red, garnet rim - strong fruit nose of red cherries with some barnyard undertones - bright flavors in the mouth up front, with intense dark red fruit in the middle - still a typical 2005 tannic structure - fairly long finish - a good Burgundy with many years to go, though would doubt evolution into a more elegant perfumed style of Burgundy

2005 is relatively massive a vintage for Burg, and no exception here, a strong well and full bodied wine that has power to spare driving flavours of rich fruit, stone.gravel, slight pine and honey. Heavier in the mouth than most burgs providing a better pairing for heavier, gamier meats.

Needs more time, tannins overwhelming the fruit at this stage (as one would expect with an '05 burg!). That being said, the material seems quite good, particularly for a wine of such "humble" origins. The fruit is on the darker and more brooding side of Pinot Noir, but still unmistakably burgundy. This could be quite good in time.

This bottle did not show well. Flavors were not integrated and seemed a bit rough. Improved with some air. Should have decanted first.

Drank with Thanksgiving dinner. The body was a bit light at dinner. Saved it overnight in the refrigerator and it took on some weight. Nice fruit.

Well, for their entry-level villages, this was powerful. Lots of earthy, tar and acrid notes at first, but these softened after about 30 minutes. Should have been opened for about an hour. Then gamey, with a long mouth feel, black cherry but not sweet or cloying. Could definitely wait for a couple more years. Looking forward to the 1e crus.

Lovely wine. Has offcause lost its babyfat and is now more subtle and elegant wine. Lovely nose with a little soya and chokolate and dark fruit. Start drinking now and through the next 5 years. 91 Point

Medium carmine robe. Nose distinctly Burgundy. Red fruited, Santa Rosa plum with noticeable oak. Medium to light body, crunchy red fruits on the palate, crab apple, pomegranate, slightly tart. Still quite tight. With air tannins softened to release the fruit, resolving to a sweeter more red cherry flavor. Finishes surprisingly long for such initial lightness. Nice wine. Day 2: Though well-vacuumed, fruit was very faded, acidity persisted, finish was medium-short.

did not save this and just as well since it was oh, so good - had on two nights. yesterday with wood grilled ahi tuna and fingerling potatoes with grilled asparagus and a parsil/oil/garlic based salsa. Tonight with breaded hake filets (finely chopped chorizo in the breading...) rice and tzatsiki. Great on both occasions. Plum and cherry. Some smoke but also a bit of pepper and the finest hint of licorice (not sweet). Elegant and just an outstanding wine.

fresh berries nose so lovely one can hardly wait to take a big gulp. A small sip later and the mouth is pleasantly surprised by this silken libation. some licorice and vanilla but not moden in its style at all. instead, the almost unnoticeable tannins plays third violin to the cadence of the acidity which elevates the wine and the berries to a very good performance. Drink now friends!

Absolutely wonderful. And this is "only" a village wine. Very pure and Sweet hint of kirsh and earthy aromas, with an outstanding Bouquet. This is faboulous.
