Still very much alive. Earthy with rich dark fruit still.

Great value GSM, always enjoy it. 9 years was a stretch for this one, time to drink.

Opened one hour prior to pairing with hamburgers and fries. A medium+ ruby in the glass extending out to a thinning meniscus. A reticent nose, featuring cherry, red alpine currant, white pepper and a touch of forest floor. Very good+ intensity and concentration, with excellent mid-palate push, and a 20+ second finish. Initial drying tannins cleared quickly. This is better than our first bottle several years ago, and probably at peak right now. No hurry.

Nothing fantastic but quite solid Cote du Rhone for a weeknight. Still had good color and decent fruit. Last bottle in cellar, probably just in time.

Not opaque, but very deep purple color. On the nose a little funk, violets & potpourri, the barest touch of vanilla and sweetness. Good strong on the palate, lots of acidity (I like this). Medium finish.

Aromas of dark berry, cocoa, and herbs. Medium body. Flavors of black raspberry and a little cooking spice. More new world than I would have thought. Very easy to drink and a nice value...Really improves with air. After 3 hours this gains weight, a meaty factor, and sweeter tannins. Gotta up this to a 90.

Fresh with ripe Grenache and smoky Syrah. Serious bracing acidity (maybe too much) and a long delicious finish. $14.99 OH Retail

I think part of the mixed reviews are due in part by the fact that everyone has a different palate. That is why we all don’t eat the same foods. To my palate this was OK but nothing special. It had a basic fruit profile but didn’t lean heavy towards either side (light or dark fruit). It was a nice pizza wine but surely not something I would rush out to purchase again. On the nose it had that barnyard …

Wow, big range in the reviews... I'd go 88-89; there can be a big difference in serving this type of wine, so that could contribute to some of the bad reviews. First (I'm admittedly not an expert, ...but) standard red Rhône's aren't usually very complex or heavy, so decanting is usually not needed. Open the bottle, pour a small taste and check it...if you think it needs to breathe then leave the bottle open and put it in the refridgerator …

Churchill's: Kermit Lynch (Maumee, OH) : Big green beans on the nose (!), rich. Riper than average, very smooth, delicious and balanced.

The scores seem all over the place for this particular vintage, I'm not sure why. Initally it was quite fruity, cherry with a short finish, very good with a tomato-y based pizza. After being decanted for one hour it turned into straight bologna, or cold hot dog aromas. I'm not kidding here folks. It was a quite unattractive aroma for me, and I couldn't detect any fruit...how sad.

Acid is high; a bit out of balance - decent value otherwise.

Churchill's: 2007 Cotes du Rhone (Maumee, OH) : Closed Porty-y nose. Good acidity. Big and tannic. This will be even better in 5 years. $16

Excellent - 89 when first opened, it had quite a bit of ripe fruit, but also strong acid and some nice minerality...with a little time, the fruit moves to the background (but is still there), revealing a great, complex red...this wine changed quite a bit while open, but both the ripe fruit style and the mineral style (that showed through after an hour or so of being open) were excellent

Dark-fruited high-toned nose with a hint of vanilla. Palate has some nice meaty flavors and chalky mineralty to go with the dark fruit. Structured to improve over the next five to ten years.

Kind of dissapointed. Nice weight, but it was flabby and overripe without much balance or complexity. Had a bit of a cheap wine taste.

Great value for this wine. Deep inky color. Nice fresh dark berry flavor. Not much nose upon opening. Fleshy on the palate. Nice finish
