While it may not reach the highest highs of Perrieres, this showed effortless class and was drinking very well. Some lemon, butter/cream, mineral, spice, plush mouthfeel but not overly round, it still has some gentle tension to it. Maybe not the complexity you’d want out of Perrieres, but there is at least a dusting of it. The vintage could be mostly to blame, but it has plenty going for it with generous fruit and excellent drinkability. I’d drink this over …

Albany Tastevin dinner : A very good showing. Needed some time to get going but after an hour of air showed lovely rich fruit, florality, faint toasty and roasted hazelnut notes on the nose, and a saline mineral element on the back end. Impressive power and richness here.

Heitz Lochardet is one of the key winemakers driving the popularity of Chassagne Montrachet in recent vintage, other than his superb Chassagne Montrachet and Chevalier Montrachet, he also makes some Meursualt cuvees, including this Meursault Les Perrieres. Tasted blind – Ripe stone fruits, broad-shouldered cream and expressive minerality. The body and ripeness reminds me of Corton Charlemagne, but more nuanced and lengthy on the palate. Another really good bottle. Fruit, oak, minerality all in perfect balance, and fantastic depth and focus here. The aromatics are somewhat unyielding at first and this gives the impression that there's more complexity to come with cellar time, though this is already quite impressive.

Nose: The nose is deep and fresh, yet quintessentially meursault with smoke, red apples, pears, cinammon spices, custard, meyer lemons, orange blossoms, and some saline notes.
