Nearly four years after the prior: Earthy and, as anticipated, quite oxidative. Suggestions of savory chamomile and hay. Some astringency. As usual, this is not for everyone, but we found it enjoyable. (At Amélie, Fairfax, Ca.)

Ohne musik’s note is apt, but in retrospect, a bit generous in terms of the first night — when I found it to have all of the fine attributes he describes, but also a touch of bitterness and slight muddiness — compared to what I expected after three prior bottles. In retrospect, we should have opened this at least two nights before. On night three it came into its own, and stayed & indeed soared until the last drop was …

Dinner at Jake & Mo's : This is delicious as a baby vin jaune. Very approachable, with only a bit of nutty oxidative character with lots of fresh squeezed lemon, rocks, and lemon-rocks. Waxy texture and mouthwatering acidity; like the ’06 Gravonia, this needs time to integrate but so much personality here.

Exactly like IsaacjamesBakers tasting note, I would ad some smoked salmon in the nose. My first voyage to the Jura was in 1992 and I went to Pierre Overnoy then, he was back then knowed for readers of Revue de Vin de France and very accessible then. i remember that 1 bought 1 Savagnin sous voile a Trousseau, a Poulsard and 1 bottle of Vin Jaune 1983, all together 4 bottles for the poor student I was. Those bottles are …

Medium gold color. Cool aromas of quinine, raw almond, oyster shell, seaweed, apricot jam. The palate boasts brisk acidity but a lot of depth. Apricot and lemon verbena mix with quinine, chalk dust, honeycomb elements. There are some herbal notes, and elements that remind me of surf wax and jetty rocks, but that's just me! Fun, nerdy, delicious stuff.

Beautiful wine. Bursting with character. This will only get better with time

So lovely again -- it's hard to keep from opening these. Beautiful bracing acidity, smooth and creamy at the same time. What a distinctive wine. It gets even better over the course of five days, simply corked.

Similar to our note in October. Quite smooth for its type. Great stuff over five nights meted out in small pours.

Golden. Bright, lively. Sous voile character is strong. Bracing acidity framing hits of rather rich curry and caramel. Saline. Super long finish. This is a lovely wine, very enjoyable in small pours over five nights, and makes us anticipate the same year's vin jaune/ Château Chalon.

Beau savagnin, plus délicat qu'un jaune et donc peut être plus facile sur table
