Pris: 649 DKK. Karakter 8,6/13 eller 83/100. Sherryfade af amerikansk eg og europæisk eg (usædvanligt for sherry, lavet specielt til Macallan)

Nose: light aromas of caramel, citrus fruits, honey, toffee, vanilla, and white chocolate; Palate: creamy spicy, and somewhat hot, oranges, raisins, honey, gingers, black peppers, and wood spices; hot and medium-length finish; overall, 88-89 points for this recent version of Macallan 12 yr old; claimed to be matured in both Spanish sherry cask and American sherry cask.

Sample tasted blind: Floral - less so Sweet - holy shit yes. Clearly sherried or some wine cask finish. Rich - incredibly so. Hedonistic. I’m in love. Nutty - maybe a touch? Spicy - Less so Earthy - Touch Smoky - not really, I mean just a smidge, but in a Glendro/Macallan Level. Low but identifiably scotch. Woody - yeah, it’s there but not overwhelming just in a well integrated way Fruit - this is where it all comes across. …

Not as good as #1. Malty, spicy, otange. Lovely orange nose. Leggy and coats the glass

Nose: honey, ginger, almonds, toffee, caramel, graham cracker pie crust, and citrus Palate: grass, truffles, spice, orange peel, cinnamon Really enjoyed this. Found it to be more restrained than edition 2.

A return to classic Macallan with a nutty, Sherry oak nose. Flavourful, pralined palate and wine-soaked finish. (First refill, USA and Spanish origin Sherry oak) Jan 2019

Orange cream and a bit less oak then #1. All these Edition series are well done. Smooth and refined.

I like it, but it's the antithesis of large Sherry cask Macallan. Subtle oak, caramel, vanilla, smooth and light.

Upgrade. Love the nose. Orange cream. Somewhat syrupy palate with oaky finish. Like I said previously, different from #1 but in its own right, well done.

Along with edition #3, this is the best, most 'Macallan' tasting whisky since the retirement of the 1824 series. Rich, winey, nutty, and sweet-centered with an exceptional spirit cut and alcohol presentation. Even at full strength (48.2%) you can bury your nose in the glass and hardly perceive the ethanol, it's all Sherried goodness.

Battle of the Macallan Editions (Chicago, Illinois, USA) : Orange-amber color, remarkably similar to the Edition No. 1. Cinnamon and smoked paprika on the spicy nose, along with cocoa and the rich sweetness of sticky toffee pudding. The palate starts with a bite of fresh ginger, with the hot spiciness of chili peppers at midpalate. This finishes with a woody burst but then fades quite abruptly. This is more youthful and heady than the Edition No. 1, with a more …

Smooth. I disagree with other reviewers such as whiskey world that are online. Not nearly as good as #1. I like oak and there is a little of it here. Bit of a florally, fruity#1. I still like #1 but this is pretty good. Glenmorangie LaSanta is still tough to beat at half the price though.

A single malt scotch tasting (Charlie's (In the Wood's of Newbury)) : I have really liked the 17 but this was a pretty good sized step down from that it seemed. The nose was a bit harsher. Some wheat but also some vanilla and a woody note. Much smoother on the palate. The vanilla carries thru and the woody quality becomes less harsh and more interesting. Overall, I did really like this one. 4.0/5

Can hardly remember having a good experience with Macallan. Maybe in the 80ies with a 12y.o. or a 10yo. This one is just another example in a Long row of disappointments. Had a bottle and tried it very often over a Long period. Just shallow water. Boring. Sorry guys, don´t understand the Reputation of this distillery or let´s say "Macallan is just not my Cup of tea". Though I like Sherry-flavoured malts such as Glenfarclas and many others.

Had been excited to try Macallan but this bottle wasn't anything special. It's a fine single malt, graceful and pleasing enough, but lacks distinctive character. An oaky nose leads to some sweet toffee and milk chocolate on the palate. Again, it is by no means bad, but I could readily name ten other single malts I'd prefer to drink. That's especially true when you factor in the price.

This scotch is tasty and smooth, but it doesn't do much for me. I like the smell of the oak, which does seem "fine." But everything else is non-descript.

With Numen on this one. Received as a gift. After hearing how great it was (from the giver) I really wanted to like it, but consistently leaves me wanting compared to other Macallan blends. Sherry cask, floral and caramel notes on the nose. Thin palate finishes on a bitter, harsh note that had me reaching for the water glass. Good, but not worth the extra coin over my favorite stand-by: Macallan 12.

Have tasted multiple times, and, each time, am hoping to be wowed, impressed, or at least satisfied with the spirit. Instead, I have been consistently disappointed. The backbone is good -- a winey, floral, and light spirit. The execution, however, left much to be desired for me. The palate is thin, and the finish is short.

Beautiful nose of Heather and lavender, tropical fruits; guava and passion fruit. Vanilla chantilly cream, mandarin and kumquat skin, notes of Valencia oranges. In the mouth, nice bold approach with candied orange, dry fruits, hints of smoke, toasted oak, coconut, pain grille, hint of garrigue.

Julesmagning - Old Malt Cask (The Whisky Club Highlander, Leo) : Whiskyen blev destilleret maj 1990 og aftappet juli 2006, ialt 362 flasker. Farve: Klar, nærmest gennemsigtig (2). Aroma: Malt, hospitalssprit, new make, korn, marcipan. Smag: Tør, træ, blomster, lyng. Eftersmag: Træ, tørv. En meget atypisk Macallan på Bourbon fad. Karakter: 7

Aromatic, 'manzanilla' nose, slight rancio note with butterscotch and white pepper. Assertive and sweet-centred with a briny, petroleum note; long, praline finish. This is the Macallan that finally convinced me of the merits of the 'Fine Oak' line. It's odd to read back the written notes but I put VVG in the margin and underlined it...might be one of my favourite Malts ever...? June 2006
