Herbal, honey, nutty. Pretty big and round in style. Definitely has warmness of generosity and a little warm due to alcohol on the back palette. Really well made. Pretty long. Enjoyed it. Better with food.

pale hay straw hue, pop and pour nose is stellar: a prick of spices, pine nuts, hazelnuts, crushed fine white pepper, white tea, honey. Great balance of acidity and minerality, well integrated and lively. A good finish of decent length. Truly a substantive drink full of character.

Pretty big for Chenin. Missing some of that funk I like from French Chenin. This was a bit fuller and a touch hot. Acidity could be higher. All that said, the fruit profile was quite interesting. There are better values, though.

Oddly, this bottle had very little impact on me; paired with chestnut soup that I thought would be as rich as lobster bisque pairing I had before; but I tasted little of the lushness this time, little body to it; don't know if it in "dumb" stage or what; I did not decant, but also did not notice it open in 30 minutes in glass; puzzling

Top Chenin Blancs, especially from Sadie Family reminds me to top Chardonnays even from Burgundy, even after 2 hours of decantation it feels a little bit broad, missing some finesse, mighty body, very good length, great to food

spicy and herbal, honey, mouthfilling, alcohol perfectly 14,5% integrated, fullbodied, fits nicely to poultry, harmonic and balanced,nice extract sweetness, I prefer it at 13-15°, potential for5-10 years, needs time and temperature (93-94)

Eben Sadie at Hawksmoor (Hawksmoor Spitalfieds, London) : So different to the Skerpioen tasted alongside. Light yellow colour, denser and fuller in the mouth, quite full bodied, aromas of apples, melted butter. Not flabby, still plenty of zip. A little heat (14.5%). Should develop longer than the Skerpioen. Fascinating to taste the two together. 17.5

Straight out great chenin blanc, very varietal, right up and front, incredible drive on the palate, great minerality and freshness. Reminds me of a great vintage of Joly. The finish is very long. This is great wine.

Amazing wine. Nose has lanolin and other funky riesling scents, palate is rich and diverse, minerality, acidity (it cut through a rich bisque I was having so nicely), also citrus, much more layered than Chenin Blancs I have had from France; finish is very long, like the best white Burgundy. Kudos to Jason Sherman at Brennan's of Houston on Christmas Eve for pulling this out for us!
