Has fallen apart with age. This wine peaked about five years ago and then became disjointed.

Drinkable, but very much a one note wine. A little harsh on the finish. Paired well with spicy chicken and vegetables.

Still drinking OK but near the end of its drinking window.

Pnp. Nose is a bit muted but has some cocoa, dark chocolate and underripe cherries. Palate is a bit drying with menthol notes and chocolate covered cherries, but there is nice—if not quite balanced—acidity. It could gain a bit balance from more time in bottle, but it is enjoyable now, especially alongside a good charcuterie and cheese board.

One of the best domestic red blends I have encountered. Classic Bordeaux style blend with the addition of Petit Sirah. Murrieta’s Well is currently owned by the Wente Vineyards as I understand the situation, but they produce smaller batches of estate bottled wines. The Livermore Valley is known for its red wines. Extremely smooth and balanced tannins, with a mild fruitiness on the front end and a smooth finish.

Very drinkable after about 2 hours from when it was decanted. The Petite Sirah and Petite Verdot add great flavor and character. Delivered more than expected from a wine at this price.

Great for price. Low tannins. Muted fruits on a good way. Quite well balanced for age and price.

Nice fruit bouquet upon opening. Given an hour or so in the glass this opens up nicely for a delicious fruit foreword wine. Very nice with prime rib tonight.

This was a great QPR wine. Standard Bordeaux blend, bit more muted approach (e.g. not overly fruit bomb). Easy to drink. Had it after it had already been open for a day.

45 cab, 22 petite s, 14 pv, 10 merlot, 9 CF. Livermore, all estate, sustainable. Floral nose, also has a bacon fat component, more red fruit driven, good acid, ripe fruit palate, good structure from the oak, balanced. I like it for the price

Better on the second day, I recommend decanting on opening — a ripe blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Petite Sirah, 18% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, and 6% Cabernet Franc from Livermore Valley — the 2014 Murietta's Well 'The Spur' opens with notes of blueberry, black raspberry, black cherry, and blackcurrants couched in dark layers of earth, leather, and baking spice. It's fairly plush on entry, with ripe, chewy tannins lending structure to a black-fruited core. 14.5% ABV | Sample

[Revised note at end] This has a completely different taste profile form most California wines I drink. I was having a hard time putting my finger on it, so I read some other opinions. I get some plum (but almost no other fruit), cinnamon, and clove. I don't get cherry, blueberry, or jamminess. I think I get tobacco. A lot of tobacco. And burnt oak. Maybe other spices or earthiness. I really wanted to like this wine based on a …

Saturated, nearly opaque, very dark red violet color; bittersweet chocolate, tart plum, graphite nose; velvety texture, ripe plum, berry puree, bittersweet chocolate palate with sweet tannins balancing acidity; approachable now but would benefit from a year of aging; medium-plus finish (45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Petite Sirah, 14% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc; 13.5% alcohol; natural cork)

Dark purple color in the glass Soft nose horns of dark fruit and maybe some cinnamon and cloves Slight earth tones Plummy flavors up front that give way to a velevet tannin structure Finish is long but subsidies elegantly Some jammy flavors pop here and there but the underlying structure remains intact. Nice subtle spices as well

Soft jammy fruits on the nose. Blue and black fruits with cocoa to a nice smooth finish. Well balanced, yet to the smooth side.

Fully opaque to a surprisingly light pink/clear rim. Quite subdued on the nose with some blueberry and light oak. Soft, full fruit on the palate. Dark cherry with fairly intense oak mid-palate. Nothing especially unique, but still tasty. Finish is medium and warm. Nice way to wrap it up.

A nose of some dark fruit and spice, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied kitchen sink blend with blackberry, plum, licorice and spice, a bit disjointed, nothing special. www.winelx.com

Not Special. Just very good; for lighter blend red. Don't look for a Home Run, just a good drinkable wine.

"Blend" is the optimum word here. It's got everything but the kitchen sink; and maybe that's what adds to the smoothness. Went extremely well, with not out the ordinary Italian Food. This is only the second bottle with a Screw Top that made my purchase list; 2011 was the first one, and that was a hit also.

33% Petite Sirah, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29%, Petite Verdot, 4% Malbec, 3% Merlot. 13.5% alcohol. Surprising obvious browning in glass Soft on palate with fading fruit. I wonder if it was racked too many times in the winery to give it this oxidized character. I expected more stuffing from an $18.99 bottle of wine. Not bad but I expected much more intensity. Would not by again at this price.

Very dark ruby color; berry syrup, tart blackberry, nutmeg, violets nose; tight, tart berry, tart blackberry palate with near medium acidity; medium-plus finish (33% Petite Sirah, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec, 3% Merlot; 13.5% alcohol) 86+ points

Blind Cali Reds : Vibrant ruby color. Pretty but bold aromatic display, wild raspberries, black cherries mix with deeper currant fruit, dried violets, eucalyptus and cedar shavings. Medium-bodied, fine tannins of medium strength, medium-low acid. The blackberry and black currant fruit is intertwined with juicy and tangy wild raspberries. I like the mix of coffee, eucalyptus, cedar and wet earth. Fun, not too complicated, but definitely delicious. Could use a bit more tang for my palate, but a solid wine …

Had a group dinner party on May 20, 2015 at Kali's Court restaurant in Fells Point Baltimore, MD. Easy drinking with a nice finish. Interesting complexity that comes from the the blending. 33% Petite Sirah, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Petit Verdot, 4% Malbec & 3% Merlot.
