Ruby red; nose of red berries, pomegranates; palate the same, light bodied but not feeling thin, enough fruit and tannin to hold up to a spicy pizza; a wine to enjoy with a meal, not an end in itself.

I purchased a couple of these four years ago on sale in the low $20s and tried one shortly after, which was corked. So this is the first and only go with this and I was pleased. Not at the level of some other Occhipintis I've had (in particular some 100% Frappatos), but very nice table wine. Very "natural" presentation with bright nose and some earthy, animal character, but clean. Good on its own and with food. 12.5% abv.

I wanted to like this a bit more than I did. Quite reduced, feral, dark fruit with iron. Very firm grippy tannins. Finishes firmly with rust and woody herbs.

Idem au magnum que j'ai bu du même millésime.. Très moyen. Amertume très élevé, acidité volatile qui ne part pas complètement. Quand même frais, belle tension mais reste rustique et inférieur à ce qu'on m'a habitué avec cette maison... mauvais rapport Q/P en l'état.

This nero d’avocat/frappato blend has the aroma and flavor profile of a natural wine, and is drinking better than in 2018 when I gave it an 87, or perhaps it is that I appreciate this type of wine more today. This wine is light on its feet but has real character with fermented (indigenous yeasts) of red fruit aromas and flavors including strawberry, raspberry, and cherry offset by subtle earthiness. Friske røde bær, god syre, litt støvete tanniner. Fyldigheten er på den lettere siden. Tross 12,5 % er alkoholen litt fremtredende og forringer en ellers fin balanse noe. Enkel+ vin, god til bolognese. Matvin mer enn peiskos. Med luft blir den litt tynn bringebærsaft.

Au nez on sent de la réduction, qui s'estompe avec l'aération. Le vin nous livre alors des flaveurs de fruits noirs, de pierre concassée, d'herbes séchés et de brett. La bouche est fraiche, dirigé par une acidité presque pointu et une amertume marqué, style noyau de cerise. On sent une pointe minérale saline en finale. Un peu rustique mais fort rassasiant. Un peu cher pour le rendu.

Excellent once again. Paired with pizza, which I usually do with this wine. This bottle was less funky than some but showing excellent pure berry fruit. With the exception of one slightly corked bottle I've really loved the '15 and '16 vintages of this wine. Need to buy more.
