Ca' Rugate Amarone della Valpolicella

Dried fruits, fig, cherry, velvety body, earthy but not barnyard, tannens and acidity and in perfect harmony on this bottle.

Decanted for an hour. Beautiful, rich nose. Doesn't have the "sweetness " of some other Amarones. Big in flavor.

Nice Amarone, coming of age. Integrated structure, long, smooth finish. Will probably sail through years of cellaring

No dark impenetrable color here, a transparent garnet, and the meniscus is nether blue nor bricked but trending toward the latter. Wild blackberry and mulberry fruit with dried cherry aromatics, dry red vermouth, and a touch of kirsch. The flavorful tannins have grip and present a wine with both modern polished fruit and a forceful, wild note of iron and blood. Fascinating. 89-90. 4 + 11 + 16 + 8
