A disappointment for me Monolithic and not complex. I struggled to define the primary flavors The consensus of the group was that the wine was not flawed and probably was not going to improve. I have another bottle and based on this one, I see no downside to waiting a few years

I was not sure what to expect from the prior tasting notes and little experience with Washington state wines. I liked this more than expected and wish I purchased more when I had the chance. I smelled plums and dark cherries and tobacco on the nose with a matching palate and cocoa in the finish. Tannins are soft and found it to be easily quaffable but not fat or over extracted. I nicely balanced wine. The oak appears to be …

You know, the thing with Leonetti (and other premium producers) is that I buy bottles and put them away for a long time, which in turn means I don't really try any of it until many, many years later. I'm also not wealthy enough to buy more than 1-2 bottles per release, so if you're like me you gotta be mindful when you finally decide to splurge and open it. With that in mind I'd say this - you can …

Splash decanted. dark ruby in the glass. Fragrant nose with blueberries and blackberries. the palate is comllex, layered, with great structure. good a idity, medium tannins that are gripoy but pleasant. Licorice, black fruits - blackberries, blackcurrants - but also some blueberries. still quite young and primary, with notes of coffee beans as well in the background. wnding is long, with some oak and barrel spice and lingering fruits. excellent Merlot, young, lots of potential ahead but great already.

Extra big, fat, round. Deep dark plum, vanilla, chocolate on the nose. Very concentrated. Would not say overripe, but maybe just on the edge. Not to my liking, but quality.

Decanted 2+ hours. Drinking beautifully right now. Certainly has many years left in the bottle but this was very good right now.

As usual, I opened the bottle, drank some, and passed judgement. I wasn’t sure if I would finish my glass and then pour the rest of the bottle away. But I got distracted and when I returned to drink some with dinner, it was so much better. Ice again, I am learning that the waiting for it to “open” thing must be real. I need to learn patience, but at 69 years old, time is running out.

I wish I could rate this wine but it's closed up tight as a drum Great mouth feel and weight Will try again in 2 years. If it opens up could see a 92+ rating

Big. Prune. Roasted meat. Slate and river rock . Spice. Big ass Merlot. Big and robust. Can’t say I like the style can’t say I hate it.

I typically like Columbia Valley Merlot wine and tried this one on recommendation from a wine shop. Better than most New World Merlot. Extreme amount of sedimentation for a 2017... almost like what you'd have with a ten year old Cabernet. Just thought that was off for a two year old wine.

I'm just not a Merlot fan, especially New World. No flaws, but quite extracted -- purple in color, black > red fruit flavors, firm tannins. Not the velvet, smoothness I like in my Merlot.

Medium nose shows spice, red and black plums, mocha, dried caramel, fresh earth. Palate is big, rich, dried spices, very primary. Needs time to hit the price point.

The nose was dark and earthy, with red fruits first, giving way to hints of moist soil and blueberry skins. On the palate, I found a silky expression, mixing blue and red berry fruits with sweet spice, hints of herbs and gorgeous inner florals. The finish was long with staining fruits, zesty spice, a tug of acidity and framing tannins. This is a great vintage for the Leonetti Merlot.

Decanted for 6+ hours. Deep ruby in color. Scented with notes of dark cherry, wild ripe raspberry and hints of pomegranate all laced with a toasty edge complimented with notes of black pepper, herbs, violets, graphite, earth and hints of pastry. On the palate bright with medium-plus acidity, fine moderate tannins, and above moderate alcohol. Vibrant red fruit flavors of cherry, pomegranate and raspberry with notes of cassis, toast, black pepper, rubbed herbs and earth, with streaks of florals and …
