Robert Mondavi, Private Selection Heritage Red Blend, California

Slightly sweet with vanilla tones. Bottled with synthetic cork. A perfectly fine wine, but i didn't get a lot of Pinot Noir characteristics -- those seemed overwhelmed by any residual sugar and oak.

Deep red color wine with loads of cherry notes, light residual sugar notes with some light vanilla notes. A lot more robust then I was expecting but nice level of complexity.

Cherry, some tobacco. Slightly medicinal. Short finish.

Black cherry. Starburst. Oak. Good, but one note. A concentrated juicy Pinot.

Okay for price. Little “twangy” but not bad.

at first a bit too alcoholic but that settles. leaves something to be desired. good enough for the price, probably will not buy again.

Drank with a clam, tomato pasta dish. It matched well with the food spices. We liked it.

Strong cherry, slight medicinal quality, meduim finish. Wouldn't buy again. But one more in the cellar...

Medium, smooth finish

On one hand, many previous vintages left me thinking this offering is often artificial and manipulated barely deserving a decent score. On the other hand it does seem to get just a little better every year. This one may be the best ever. First off, there seems to be an unwanted and unwelcome bit of residual sugar. Beyond that, we have pure fresh cherry and raspberry fruit any Pinot would be proud to display. Maybe a bit too much toasty …
