No detailed note, apologies. I’ve drunk two bottles in the last month because it is absolutely ON right now. There’s lightness and weight at the same time and of course compelling and totally correct aromatics and really juicy fruit. I may have reviewed this here before, for a more descriptive account. Really good and worth opening a bottle.

Dark red translucent. Brooding on the nose with blackberries and rose petals. Quite smooth tannins and still very young with no shortage of substance. Ideally needs to be cellared.

Piedmont tasting : Made in a juicy style with vibrant dark cherry fruit, but had grippy tannins. Not bad but least favourite of the flight of Barolos.

Another Somm selection at Pappas Steakhouse. At $120 on the menu this was just fantastic. Paired very well with everything on the table.

Rose petals, pomegranate and blood orange on the nose. Medium bodied with v fine powdery tannins, good fresh acidity, and remains red fruited (as per previous description) with a subtle earthy grip on the finish. Drinking well as seems typical of many 18s.

Diego Conterno Barolo Dinner (Lorne, London) : This was even smokier than the Coste, but it too had a lovely broad cherry fragrance, with the tannins well buffered.

Ian's "Under the Radar Piedmont" at Terra Rossa 4 Oct 2022 (Terra Rossa, London N1) : Deep regal red fruited nose that you could get lost in. Silky tannins ethereality real structure but so fresh and deliciously red fruited (sour cherries, pomegranate). Concealed power but such a nice overall package.

"Under the radar" Piedmont (Terra Rossa) : Powdery, elegant nose, bright and welcoming. Deep red fruit on the palate, grippy and exciting, with good intensity and an attractively musky undertone. My #3 tonight.
