World's Greatest, Hong Kong - Night II (Garden Suite, Peninsula Hotel) : [Magnum] Spectacular nose, big reduction, smoke, lemon curd, lemongrass, incredibly fresh and clean. The ‘83 and ‘85 are neck and neck. Amazing. I think the ‘83 might have a little more vibrancy whereas the ‘85 has a little more buttery weight. Celebrating LKM's 60th birthday at the Lobby, Peninsula. First 83 Chevy for me, taken out from 14'C cellar and first traveled 5km. Served slightly chilled in room temp of 22'C. Dark yellow colour. Oaky and forest nose fade as it goes, later replaced by more honey citrus. Refined month feel with a medium plus body, decent finish. The wine is on the sweet side and was still going well at the end of 3 hours dinner.

Slowly bt decanted for an hr, deep yellow with lovely aroma of honey white flower, fig and apricot. So refined on palate, striking balance of aweetness and hint of minerality but one can tell this is an aged burg white on the complexity of aroma, velvet but lively freshing floral and fruit. A wow wine.

Glorious old white Burg. You sense this wine has well and truly reached a plateau and may be gradually decaying but it is still quite pure and very much alive. There is some toast, white mushroom and butter. The palate still has notes of orchard fruits and there is a gentle squeeze of lemon to the finish. Length of flavour is outstanding.

Drunk at Otto e Mezzo. Slightly racier than my earlier bottle and better for it. This showed more acidity and white flowers and was less vintaged marked. Very special and perfect with Tasmanian black truffle risotto

Drinking perfectly at the moment. The vintage shines more than the producer or vineyard however. Very 1983. I'd probably peg it as a Montrachet or Batard if blind as it lacks some of the usual Leflaive Chevy verve. That siad, a beautiful bottle that held up wonderfully over the evening.

Dame, game on... The nose tells the brain this is going to be sick and it doesn't disappoint on the palate. Broad, balanced with sweetness, great acidity and with more and more air (30 minutes) and a drop in temperature to room, it gets even better. Still ohh, soo young. Killer and WOTN!
