The wine was excellent. Even though 2003 was a warm year the wine is still in good form, well balanced, and very enjoyable.

The last of six, and an example of the futility of perfect timing. In many ways the best of the lot, with deep black fruit notes, a touch rustic, and a peppery spice backbone. At the same time, the wine peaked quickly, and even when first opened was a bit drying on the finish. Call it a fading glory, and one that was well appreciated despite some wistfulness for what might have once been.

Just oak and tannins left. No fruit flavors at all. After decanting, it wasn't as harsh, but not worth drinking

My one and only bottle of this wine. Went well with lasagna but the wine was mediocre, especially for the price. Acidity out of balance with little fruit remaining. this bottle was much better on day 3, 89-90.

A notable step down from my last bottle, which I had barely a year ago. This one came off a bit flat, with muted red fruit, touch sweet, and well integrated oak. Its fine-grained tannins were still present, so I think this is best taken as an off bottle rather than a sign of accelerated aging.

With a few more years in the bottle since the last one I tried, I can say that time is really helping this wine. The Cab. is more prominent, and the jammy red fruit has settled down. Still a touch sweet, with well integrated oak. No upside from here, just a highly enjoyable QPR, akin to a Bevan Ontogeny in my view.

Great ready to drink wine. Classical Cab-based tuscany nose accompanies by aromas of fried pumpkin and suunflower seeds. Very smooth and creamy on the mouth. Little to medium acidity. Tanins are still there but very well iintegrated. Drink now

Nose: menthol Palate: tannic, leather, dry, slate, dried black cherries, dried herbs. Seems like amarone to me. We've been tasting it since 2010 and had two bad bottles. The bottles for 2011 and 2012 I rated as 94. This is my last bottle, still pretty good.

Tough comp, tasted alongside the '03 Sassicaia among others, an unavoidable benchmark given the same varietal components and nearby terroir. Even if the Lupicaia could not soar to the level of THE SuperTuscan that night, it is still a compelling and beguiling wine with a long way to go in its development. DAWGS May 2010 - Italian Whites and Reds (su vino's home in Southlake, TX) : WIML90-91 Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. (Splash decanted for 30 minutes.) Beautiful wine. Tha Cab Sauv is the most pronounced grape. Big tannins - wil obviously benefit from laying down - but it's already drinking great.
