Cavallotto Barolo Riserva Vignolo

Delicious mid aged barolo with plenty of fruit left. No rush.

Nice wine, but not remotely close to ready. Shows the density an ripeness of the vintage, but not yet much secondary development. Try again in 2020+.

This got a 4hr decant prior to consumption and really needed it. Not until hr 6-8 was it really showing well as it was quite shut down upon opening. Eventually showed a nice floral nose of dried red berries and menthol. Palate was fine, quite acidic and bright with some moderate tannins on the back end only. This wine shone on opening and didn't change; faint red bricking, but beautiful structure and completely seductive; delicious, edging towards ethereal but not quite at that level; ready, probably no immediate rush

A truly lovely nose, redolent of dried fruits and flower. Nothing wrong with nthe palate either, mature but not going downhill. But oh, that nose.

Old Barolos and Riojas (Incontro, Robertson Quay) : Wow, killer nose on this one. Lovely lush notes of wet earth, mushrooms, black truffles, a whiff of wilted flowers, balsam wood, charred bacon, and just that tiny hint of Barolo tar. With time, dried raspberries and cloves started floating out. Palate is just at a beautful place as well.
