Merlot dominated LdP offering creamy lush fruits, good freshness and tertiary notes clearly shining through now. This makes this wine rise from a mediocre middle of the road level in which it was the last time I opened one (2ya). This wil go on for a decade at least and god I love these 20 ish euro bordeaux that truly deliver after ageing!

See prior note: An old school Bordeaux rule of thumb, Chateaux’s would put better quality wine into larger format bottles. Melchoir opened at a wedding would have better juice in it then say an Imperial opened at a Birthday Party would in turn have better juice then say the everyday 750ml. Never gave it much credence in this modern age but, based off the Jeroboam enjoyed this weekend, it seems valid. From the 750’s enjoyed since release, Jeroboam just had …

Nose: blackberries, spiced cherry, warm spices (star anise, nutmeg, fennel). Well balanced. Flavor: spiced cherries, mod tannins. Great food wine (had with paprika pork cops)

Deep ruby. Cassis, red currant, oak, licorice, pencil shavings, menthol, blackberry, meat, leather, cedar. Green herbs on palate. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins, medium+ body. Has developed beautifully to its potential.

This is finally open for business and is quite beautiful. Lovely savoury notes, black olives, truffles with a nice long finish. My last and best bottle. Wish I had more. Plenty of life in this and excellent value.

Amazing value. A beautiful 375ml to accompany cheese before a nice bistro dinner in Toronto. The wine had all the right pieces. Amazing mouthfeel with still-present tannins and bold beautiful black fruits. Profound aromatics considering the humble price ($25 Canadian for the half bottle). I wish I grabbed a 12 pack! Value Gold Star.

A bit disjointed on day 1, much better after one night in the fridge. Okay for a weekday wine.

Fully in the drinking window but might still improve for 3+ years. Nicely balanced merlot, not too bold or sweet, a bit of minerality, mostly resolved tannins.

My last bottle of a case. This bottle showed a bit of bricking at the edge. Plumb, cherry. On the palate, some sweetness, extracted, plush, soft. Not a bad weekday wine for under $25.

Too sweet, even for Merlot, and insufficiently tannic. Not to my taste.

still a pretty young appearance. Bordeaux nose, firm red fruits like cherry but also some raspberry. Gravel and a dry warm summer forest. Juicy red fruits on the palate. Currant, strawberry, cherry and pomegranate. tertiary notes start to develop somewhere in the back, leather, tobacco. finely grained tannine structure. The 20% Cab franc shows with a small bitter/green note. Medium + finish. medium complex kept up for 5 days and got a bit stricter even. tannine became dryer. correct wine …

Still quite tight and needs more time (5+years). Good potential.

A supple, modernly styled wine offering black and blue fruits, coffee and oak. A bit ripe on the palate, but still in balance with quite fine tannins, and not overdone like some others in this vintage. Already completely ready to drink, no sense of cellaring this any further I think. Solid everday drinker. Update: After a week under Coravin even better. Really nice freshness and fine balance. This is worth 16.5/20.

Nose of blackberry and old toolbox. First on the palate (on this bottle) is white pepper, grainy tannins not overpowering. Longish finish of that pepper. Still primary. Again I say this is a great QPR for that everyday drinker.

Decanted and drank over two days. Medium body. The red and blue fruits are pronounced in both aroma and taste, very little secondary/tertiary character, especially on day-1. Tannins present but not pronounced, which help drive the longish fruit finish, which had a slight bitterness on the very end. The bitterness is gone on day-2, the fruit is joined by a hint of leather. A very good QPR on this wine, drink some and save some.

Lush and unctuous. Lovely fruit with some tannins, but all is coming into balance. Precision and poise on the finish. This is a lovely wine.

This was quite good. I don't think I can improve upon the descriptions of Hoservin and Silver Thunder. Great QPR here, I wish this one was easier to find locally.

About 14 months after my last bottle (qv) I gave this about 3.5 hours in the decanter before drinking with a sirloin with a mushroom/pepper/sour cream sauce. The nose is intense dark red fruits and a touch of alcohol heat. The palate now has developed somewhat. The oak seems more integrated, and the acidity, whilst still quite noticeable, doesn't drown everything out. There is initially a nice mix of red fruit and now notes of cigar box appearing, but then …

Very French, this wine is all about terroir. Medium ruby color with brick edge, light to medium bodied, firm, dry, but slightly sweet tannins. Mineral and stone flavors with a hint of graphite. ABV is almost 15%, that is un-French like.

Dark color. Big nose. I got excited smelling that dark raspberry and plush fruit. Softer scents too, like violets and other floral notes. Still somewhat tannic, although I think relatively medium bodied in the end. Good dark cherry fruit on the finish. Not nuanced but very good, and likely nicer still in a year. Try with a steak.Great value.
