Leasingham Riesling Bin 7

Fresher and lighter in colour than last bottle. Tiny bit of spritz. More lemon than apricot this time. Really pleasant but definitely mature.

This no longer resembles Riesling. It has the hue of the product of a dehydrated camel. Nose is like ripe apricot kernels. Palate improves with air. I went from being scared of the wine upon opening to looking forward to another glass. So much more interesting than young riesling.

About 4 out of 10 on the yellow hue front. Nice nose. Toasty palate. I actually prefer this to Rieslings that don't change over 13 years. Lemon and toast and a bit honeyed. Pretty nice. Good breakfast wine?

{screwcap, 13.5%} dark yellow, almost alarmingly so. But the nose, protected by the screwcap is pure and lemon-soaked, and fully developed, or at least aged. Medium-bodied palate offers slightly flabby yellow/lemon flavours, a bit soft and rather dull, and lacking both the freshness which more acid or better fruit would have given it. There's nothing really wrong with this, it's just that it would have been lovely 5 years ago, and you can taste that! Near medium length finish ends …

{screwcap, 12.5%} Looks its age; mid yellow, still with a green streak to it. The nose is glorious; wafts of honey and older riesling, but no petrol, no kero, just pure aging citrus-tinged fruit. The palate has a lovely dry, chalky tone to the texture; the lime quality is still very evident, but laced with honey; it's medium-bodied, at the very peak of development; deliciously aged, with a medium-long finish. Very characteristic lemony aussie riesling. On the sharp side.

Nice. Lots of mineral and petrol. Fully dry. Considerable weight.

Possibly a bad bottle, but with a screw top, I couldn't blame cork taint. My wife said it tasted like crap. Two sips and down the drain.

Not crazy about it, too dry for my tastes and didn't have the riesling spice I typically like.
