Ptujska Klet Pinot Noir Pullus Štajerska

Good example of quality blaufrankisch, though not as rounded as the best bottles. Very dry tannins that give it a slightly rough mouthfeel, but good tart red berries with some mineral and chalk to balance it all out. Not a great sipping wine on its own, but a versatile food wine.

Low intensity nose shows dried cherry, potpourri, orange peel, but hard to pick out (just opened). Palate is light bodied, white pepper, cranberry, dried vanilla, cinnamon, light cherry, almost watery it's so light. The spice makes it interesting, but might be a hard sell to US drinkers. Worth trying once.

11/18/2017 SPC Class Eastern Europe / Mediterranean : pale brick color, clear weak+ aroma intensity, some age: sweet cranberry, strawberry, oak dru, light+ body, lively+ acidity and moderate, soft tannin. Smoky/strawberry. very savory. short finish.
