Jean-Claude Boisset Beaune 1er Cru Grèves

Decent red fruit punch, some complexity and minerality. Pretty darn good - but a bit forgettable

Lots of deep, dark, earthy red fruit with barely green sous bois undertones. Mid weight mouthfeel with uplifting acidity at its core. Quite nice and drinking well tonight after several hours of air. Lots of forward looking potential.

Wine had a distinctive foxy nose and flavor...reminiscent of concord grapes. Not my jam--no pun intended. In all other regards, the wine was fine, so if that nose / flavor is appealing, I'd encourage you to try it.

Off a vineyard of 80+ years of age. This is a big, rich, muscular wine of character and concentration. It is very much dark fruited and has some menthol notes. There’s good structure and a finish that has plenty of chew. The old vine sap is evident here.

this was a local one bottle purchase / try-to-buy wine, of the '15's this one didn't seem like a winner... perhaps its closed now, buy in any case not a re-buy for sure
