This wine continues to be one of my very favourite "value" reds -- at $16 in Ontario, it's remarkably good, further evidence of the impressive quality and value of South African wine generally. The 2018 vintage shows less fruit than in the past, and that's the main shortcoming here. There's vague and murky blue and black berry fruit, but that's about it. Fresh and juicy with black berry and black cherry and a touch of sweetness. Light pepper and some grip on the finish. Nice intensity and density Great value, easy, appealing wine that does not seem overly manipulated.
