Lots of deposit. Decanted. 30 mins. Nose like Shiraz - blackberry, oak, plum. Bit of alcohol and sweet nose. On palate, good fruit and acidity. Not particularly complex. Bit of tannin. Not a great finish - bit thin. Better after 1.5 hours. Acidity reduces, but tannins increase. Nice dry palate, with dark red fruit up front. Would be good with duck, lamb or pigeon. 3hrs in decanter - just keeps getting better. More fruit, more mid-palate. Dry tannic finish now …

A typical Tempranillo, though less fruity and more spicy than some others that I've tasted. More tannic and less acidic as well, leaving a more settled and mature finish in the mouth, giving it a strong gran reserva identity. I fell priviledged having drunk one of 5000 bottles of the very first vintage of this wine, the 2003, which I coincidentally ran into in a small sidestreet market in Barcelona.

Very supple and polished bottle of wine, showing beautiful harmony right from the nose, showing sour cherries and dark fruit, with great intensity, quality, and complexity. Full body with velvety texture. Still young; best open in 2013.
