Probably the last bottle of this vintage left, unless the winemaker kept some for reference. During its day (03 - 08) this was a great claret- fruity, tart, tangy. I found this one at the bottom of the cellar. Well stored, it is still past its prime; woody and stale, tannic with no fruit or floral. On the eye it is a somewhat orangey red, and the nose is kind of pruney. I have no expectations as it was not …

Age shows nicely on this wine. It remains my favorite daily quaffer, with cedar/cigar box balancing a more rustic nose. While the mouthfeel is not rich, the red and black fruit balance a tartness that makes its consumption with food a treat. It has an excellent character without being unctuous and overly rich as many zinfandels appear to be.

This phat and fruity zin is drinking exceptionally well for an inexpensive central coast wine. The body, acid, and alcohol are all in balance; assertive enough to keep up with all sorts of assertive fare. It is an exceptional pizza wine, for example.

Paso Style Fruitiness & gentle acidity pair perfectly with a pepperoni Pizza. Not a powerful nose, but the cherry tartness/plum sweetness and a good mouthfeel/persistence balance against fresh french bread and the toasted cheese of the pizza.

Paso Zin Fruity with some interesting thing going on. The scorched/toasty nose and the burnt toast palate balance the fruity Zin Body. Pair this with something complex like a Bolognese Ragu that includes tomato.
