Seemed slightly reduced with a bit of burnt toast on the nose though it did open up a bit in the glass. Some scented fruit, red cherries and a touch of menthol. More of that red cherry fruit shows in the flavour, some austerity but a little sweetness to the fruit in the finish. Will be very fine but needs a few years yet to my taste.

2 hours of air time. Wild cherry, honey, forest floor, leather, licorice, vanilla, cola, orange peel, and mild herbs. High acidity, high/dusty/round tannins, high alcohol. Long finish. Has a mild sweetness. Slightly austere and should be incredible in a few more years. Outstanding vino! Really wish I had a case of this to drink over the next decade.

Deep garnet. Pronounced. Vermouth like nose: dried cherry, Taison, cola, mint, oak, tobacco, sundried tomato. Hogh acidity. High, fine tannin. FB. High alcohol (14,5%). Long and complex finish. Outstanding.

1 hour decant in glass. Nose of cherries, licorice, vanilla, sweet earth and rose water. On the palate: cherries, licorice root, sweet earth & rose water. Sandy tannins are well integrated--perceived on cheeks and gums. Long finish of red fruit, red licorice, sweet tannins & salinity. The wine seems to be transitioning from its brawny youth and developing tertiary flavors, but its at an "in-between" spot right now. Think it will gain a point or two in another 5-10 years …

Quite intense, has a heavy concentrated profile. Definitely better than the one I had about four years ago, this feels more complete, deep and expressive. Will still benefit from more time though. I find 17 years from release to be the sweet spot for Brunello.

Great. Classic. Taught but ready. Cherries, acid, dirt.

I think this is a better vintage than '10 for this particular winemaker. The balance seems better.

Two hour decant and drank over two hours. The air helped, and this may improve a bit with age, but right now it's short on fruit, short on complexity, short on real joy. Not surehow I got to 90 points on the last bottle and I don't think this has improved since then.

Fresh and balsamic. Traditional at its best. Deep Ruby with garnet hues. Pronounced. Violet, cherry, raspberry, bloody character. Sweet spices and locorice root. Leather, toasted wood. Complex. Med+ acidity. High tannins, ripe/integrated. 14,5% abv. Long. Outstanding.

Deep ruby with brick edge. Pungent perfume of cherry, warm earth and licorice root. This is the terrior of Montalcino in a glass! On the palate, dusty tannins combine with muted cherry and earth in the most superlative way. Old world Brunello at its best here. Finish of warm earth and baking spices is long and tannins are already well integrated and unobtrusive. Will still improve with more time in the cellar, but an hour or two decant is sufficient …

At dinner at the Brisbane Club. Another terrific bottle of this Brunello with a deep cherry colour and a deeply fruited nose of dark cherries, thyme, and touches of liquorice and bitter chocolate and lavender. The palate is nicely layered, mouth filling and complex with excellent grip and a fine tannic finish. A beautifully balanced Brunello that shows all the charm and depth of Sangiovese from this site.

Aired in bottle for 3+ hours. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of red licorice, ripe red cherries, hints of emerging leather and meat. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14.5%), structured but not imposing high tannins, deceptively full bodied. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of red licorice, sweet ripe red cherries, sweet baking spices, bitter dark chocolate, hints of emerging earth and leather …

Pretty incisive and racy, a little thin on the mid palate. Will benefit from more time as the acidity is a little pronounced at this stage though some may like that.

Fantastic Brunello that starts off very tight. This came together after 8 hours—and wow was it worth the wait. Just delicious. I truly believe 2013 was fantastic and I am just curious how much better these can get—because they are only getting better every time I open one. Highly recommend.

At the Brisbane Club. This is another delicious 2013 Brunello with a deep cherry colour and a deeply fruited nose of dark cherries, balsamic, autumn herbs and touches of liquorice and bitter chocolate. The palate is nicely layered and complex with excellent density and grip with a whip of dense tannin ant the end. Classic Brunello that benefits a lot from aeration and decanting.

No formal notes taken, but this was a wee bit challenging of a wine. It started out rather tight, but darkly complected on the nose. The palate was very compact with dark fruit and tons of acidity that ran deep into the finish. The dark fruit and acidic streak was intense. It felt too compact at first so we let it sit for a bit in the decanter. After an hour things loosened up and it got less dominant of …

Började lite sluten med muskig lite svampig doft men blev efter tid och luft mer fruktig och toner av kanel. Mycket smak av frukt och en del fat men en otrolig balans. Fin syra med en viss sälta och en väldigt lång eftersmak.
