Mansfield Merlot

After having 5 of my 6 bottles I have concluded all bottles of this wine that I have had are all beyond their prime. An appropriate drinking window should have been "Drink by 2016" (before I purchased the bottles)

Again this wine was quite similar to the last but it is one that There is still a bit in the bottle …. if it sits that long -- minus one point.

This is the first bottle I've had that has shown nicely. It tasted like a well developed Merlot as it was promoted. This bottle tasted nicely aged where all the others I have had tasted tired. A bit of fresh fruit on the front along with some aged flavors, a middle with a soft full mouth and a sweet tannin on the finish. This is a touch on the old side. The fruit has lost its luster and they seem to be a little tired without developing the flowery complexity of time on a high quality merlot. Not a bad wine but I would truly be upset if I had spent $20+ on these bottles.

I really enjoyed this bottle. I’m not ever one to really care for a Merlot but this bottle was on point. The tannins where nice and well rounded; not too harsh. Earthy yet fruity notes up top with a smooth finish. Overall great wine!

This was an old and tired wine. It had a significant over oxidized character but was still drinkable. I tasted it several times over a week and the fruit that was present fell away in a day or two. Based on this bottle, drink all you have very soon.

This is quite good. Drink now, tannins are soft and integrated, nice red fruit and menthol too.

Dark cherry & black raspberry, vanilla, mocha, a hint of clove & spice. Silky tannins & very smooth. Nice.
