Weingut Ewald Gruber Chardonnay Trockenbeerenauslese

One of the first bottles I purchased when I started collecting. I had low expectations as the bottle was not stored well the first years of it's life and I have never encountered this producer since I purchased it. But one of the best TBA Ive had! Typically they are all quite uniform, dominated by the highly concentrated sugars and sometimes botroytis and lacking individual character. Crazy acidic and sweet at the same time. Honey. Medium to full body. But it was light and refreshing at the same time. I love it.

Honey, caramel and tropical fruits in the nose. On the palate apricot, pineapple, honey, raisins. Decent acidity to balance the sweetness. Medium aftertaste.

An unusual wine. Tba on Chardonnay from Austria. Nose with fruit compote, figs, and apricot. On the palate great balance between sweet and acidic. Honey and sweet fruit without being able to put my finger on what, but it ends with a clear raisin profile. Had this been served blind I would have been very unsure what to report!
