Starting to be really enjoyable. Unfortunately it is my last bottle and I had intended to grab the regular Kabinett of the same vintage instead. The nose is a lot more complex than a couple of years ago. Green apple, pear, the slightest touch of petrol. Lots of minerals and salt on the palate, dry, acidity well rounded, but noticeably less than on release. Lasting finish. This is truly excellent and becomes even better with air.

** Very nice Mosel, drinks very well. Lots of flavors to wrap your tongue around.

Has tighten up just a tad since 2 years ago, but ultimately still a delicious quaff with both a winning personality and real depth of character.

Sweet, smooth, and moderately crisp. Very easy drinking, once you acclimate to the honeycrisp apple sweetness. The very low alcohol level (8.5% abv) makes this a refreshing wine to enjoy on a warm afternoon.

Light+ bodied, traditional styling. Full nose and palate. But much too young, totally green like plant stalks. Future greatness is all there: concentrated, plush acidity, viscous, hinted petrol, green-ish tree fruit like pear, apple, lime. Beautiful reduction a few hours in. Just off-dry. This can safely be forgotten in the cellar for 10-15 years. What a steal at $20-25, but not all that satisfying today due to sappy linearity. Full day decant helps. Compares above other $20 Rieslings, particular anything …

As noted, $20. Uh .........duh, more please! Excellent fruit/acid balance. Not shrill in any way. Delicious typical Mosel fruitiness, with just enough RS to still perceive as totally dry. Still youthful, this'll pick up more depth as it develops over time, at least a decade. Serve with damned-near anything.

Absolutely delicious and an incredible value. Straw color with a nose of white peach, pine and flowers. Light on its feet yet incredibly balanced - there is a terrific mid palate depth that places this in a serious wine zone. Dry and fresh with promise for many years of enjoyment. $20+ for world class wine? Drop the mic Mr. Richter. (92+)

Richter knocked it out of the park in 2019. For a wine under $20, this really over delivers and may be the value of the year. Finely balanced, refined, and while it is not as exuberant as the W-S kabi (regular), it makes up for it in depth and elegance. No reduction on the nose, it shows ripe fruit, fresh white flowers and salty seaspray from the get-go. Palate is round, fresh, and oh so focused. Grapefruit, jasmine, ripe peach …

Continuing to taste through the 2019 range, and this is rather tighter in expression than the Himmelreich Kabinett I had earlier in the week. It’s very light in color, barely registering as yellow at all. The nose is all crisp peach and lemon zest, with a bit of flinty mineral accent. On the palate it’s a bit wan, feeling like it’s either would up completely tight, or maybe just lacking a bit of fruit density. The purity is certainly there. …
