“Italian Power, Elegant Touch” Enjoyed during a blind tasting and revisited the following day. Decanted prior to the initial pour. Medium ruby core in the glass with just a faint hint of browning at the rim—showing early signs of evolution without losing vitality. The nose opens with ripe yet focused fruit: dark sour cherry and raspberry leading the charge, followed by plum, sweet baking spice, and a savory herbal edge. On the palate, Day 2 was where this really sang. …

Decanted a few hours before drinking. Cherry, strawberry, spices, caramel, leather, subtle herbs. A little more oak presence on the finish. Good acidity although a little thin. Held up well over 3 nights.

I was searching for a little redemption of this wine after a somewhat disappointing ‘11 earlier this fall. Like some tasters mentioned there is a “done up” quality to it, lots of oak derived spice and walnut on top of sappy black cherry and raspberry with juicy acidity on the backend. There is a welcome mentholated detail to the nose that adds a nice bit of character. A rather full-throttle interpretation of Sangiovese but I think a mostly successful one, …

Blind, short note. Called modern Merlot from Tuscany. Ripe, oaky, oxidative touch, I did not like this. Was surprised when it was revelead that it was actually Sangiovese. The sommelier claimed that this had only seen large barrels, but I just can't believe that. I thought absurd amounts of new oak. Didn't like this, missing elegance and everything I love about Sangiovese. Yet certainly not a bad wine, just not my cup of tea. 16/20

Didn't take notes. Drank very well - preferred to a 201- Chateau-LaTour Martillac Bordeaux (2010) tasted alongside. 93+/-

Nez concentré sur le pruneau, la cerise à l’eau de vie et le musc. En bouche c’est riche, avec un fruité légèrement confit. Belle longueur en fin de bouche. C’est bon sans être génial.

This was truly a treat and a stunning expression of Sangiovese. Both rustic and powerful, it delivers an impressive mouthfeel that sets it apart. Striking a perfect balance, it bridges the gap between the earthy charm of traditional Sangiovese and the bold intensity one might expect from a Super Tuscan. A remarkable wine that captures the best of both worlds. No rush to drink this now, I imagine this will blossom over the next 5-7 years.

- I tasted that wine 2 years ago and it made even more fun to drink. - On the nose it was quiet prices and just very nice, frutiy nose. Good combination of red and dark berries, cherries, plums with mediterranean spices, stony hints and the wooden aromas are well integrated. - On the palate the tannins got softer, of course it's not a highly complex Sangiovese but just so juicy and fresh to drink.

Not at all as good as the 2019, that (BTW) is one of our most favourite wines of all time. This is a heavier, extracted, modern biggie style Sangiovese. The style has its merits, especially the better ones and over time. One btl to go, with a 10-15 year rest expected before plop.

Tuscany (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street) : Oak, caramel, sweet spice, a touch of cream; muted non-delineated red and black fruits beneath this. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, fruit slightly concentrated and savoury on the palate, tannins are drying and coarse flour textured, all persist long assisted by a bit of alcohol warmth. Big. Hmm

really love this wine with pasta. One of the best chiantis I've had for sure...medium-bodied, dense, full--nice cherry fruit.

PnP. Wonderful nose of black and red fruit. Fresh. Palate of fruit and tobacco. Strong alcohol, giving some air. And. . . 30 minutes later it’s ready to go (!?!) Slight pleasant gaminess and spice along with fruits, general freshness and tobacco. Fantastic—this is only going to get better.

I found this to be the most difficult wine to assess of the three Chianti's that I opened this weekend. It really comes down to style preference. James Suckling, who is neither fool nor servant to corporate power rates this wine very highly indeed - 96 points. Wine Spectator pulls it back to 92. Both have legitimate reasons. For me, the oak is really too dominant and it is discordant. Pencil shavings and a touch of vanilla threaten to run …

I generally agree with much of what’s been written. After a 2017 Istine CCR Le Vigne, this felt pretty extracted and with nontrivially less acidity. The alcohol was a bit conspicuous too. Two very different representations of Chianti Classico, though, for my taste, I much preferred the Istine. I think the Il Carbonaione would benefit from a longer decant.

Incredible, wild, sun-dried tuscan herbs, concentrated black and red fruit, length. Tasted blind, side by side with Sassicaia 2015, and this felt like it was in a similar league. One of my favorite super tuscans ever.

- no decanting - Nose: Medium intense but already quite accessible, youthful nose with a red and dark fruit compote, berry. Still radiating freshness with lots of herbs, nice balsamic and stony aromas. Little wood noticeable with some white chocolate in the background. Clear and precise. - Palate: Straight forward with a rather dark fruity expression. Polished and medium ~+ tannins and a crisp, medium + acidity. The flavours are not fully there yet but are really fun to drink …

a little bit disappointing relative to the hype...structure is medium-bodied and refined, but not as elegant as my expectations...flavor profile is classic Italian but a little bit austere with hints of herbal stringency
