Domaine Lignier-Michelot Clos St. Denis

Kinda sad to see this one go…it was that good. Another 2008 winner. Never had Clos Saint Denis but this was another Morey Saint Denis grand cru hit. Cherries with that feral-ness of the village. PNP at Maison Rostang Fabulous structure ….earthy red fruit driven. Just a slight hint of secondary flavors and a touch of brett but all in a good way. We paired it with roasted duck. Perfect

Lovely color. The nose is fresh and classy, showing aromas of ripe red berries, white pepper, flowers and herbs. This is medium full bodied on the palate with very good concentration and lovely finesse. The long finish features bright acidity.

this was great, had over three nights, probably best on night one (atypical for young burgs in my view), this had some light xmas spice and good solid grapey fruit, balance of fruit and spice was perfect with good but not high acid, a fun loving but contemplative burgundy, would be enjoyed by the crowd for sure, slightly rich but not overdone... looked for more immediately but perhaps not surprisingly it is now twice what i payed for this solo …

Some Weekend Burgundy; 12/14/2012-12/15/2012 (Dig Wines and San Francisco Wine Trading Company) : Medium ruby. Tart red fruit on the nose. Nice, integrated middle weight feel with savory elements, earth, some herbs, noticeable but not overbearing wood, fine acidity, and a moderately tannic finish.
