Been waiting a while, a long while, to enjoy this one. Bought it in Montalcino in 2012 and the first taste of it -- the savory cherry elegance -- like a fruit tart on a bed of mushrooms -- took me back to Tuscany. I drank it to celebrate a professional event in my career, and all I could think about while savoring it was how truly blessed I am.

Medium garnet, tawny rim. Clean nose, pronounced aromas of dried cherries and strawberries, figue, raisin, herbs, pepper spice, violets, smoke, vanilla, leather, earth. Fully developed. Dry palate, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), full body, medium (+) fine tannins, long finish. Very goo/outstanding quality. I hesitated on my rating for this one as the alcohol is evident, but it is quite well integrated and doesn’t stick out. You really only notice it on the finish. But there is tremendous complexity and …

Very nice wine, took me back to the alleys of montalcino,as it has lots of tipicity.French oak, could be more integrated but it doesn't get in the way of the fruit.Major problem is the heat,so I brought the temp down a little, but as soon as it warmed up a bit it became almost unbearable.Cooled it again, not much, and finished it off nicely.90 is the best ever for this fella, not sure if it's worth the money!

Ruby red with orange highlights. Blackberries, raspberries, wild strawberries and violets to the powerful smell. The aromas are not razor sharp, however, and also to taste the complexity and rich body fruity duty pay a little for the burning smell of alcohol. Long finish.

Still a little heat here but after letting it breathe for 12 hours, there was some lovely firm, leathery, dried cherries here. Little bit of burn noticable but generally very good. 89

Full, sweet, sharp, dark cherry nose opening up to reveal some meatier, volatile herb aromas. There is a good dollop of oak here too. Powerful, full fruit and fennel palate with balancing acidity and long, slightly bitter finish. Bit of heat noticeable and you can taste the oak. Some firm tannins but nothing that detracts from the wine. A little brash and the flavours haven't come together. Is a bit on the young side and could perhaps benefit from mellowing …
