Toffee, treacle, cedar nose. Syrup, fig, dried fruit palate. Still drinking well. Given the way this has evolved should be good until 2030.

This is still drinking very well. Just tasted after a “ more prestigious “ 1986 claret and this was much better. Predominantly tertiary, some plum, toffee, very enjoyable.

Even though this is 25 years old, it feels more like a ten year old bottle of bordeaux. Still has a good 10 years ahead of it.

Deep garnet. I thought that there was some dark fruits on the nose/palate this time which hadn’t been as apparent previously. Plenty of earth/leather on the palate. Probably slightly more enjoyable than at previous tasting which surprised me. Revisit next year.

Deep garnet. Cedar, syrup, vegetal nose. Dried blackberries, leather, forest floor, game palate. Virtually all the primary fruit aromas/flavours gone. Second wine of Clos de Sarpe, not come across it before, but a case arrived yesterday first bottle. Pleasant enough wine which won’t improve, but drinking well and should continue to do so for 3/4 years. 13% abv

dark red-brown, tertirary aromas of ripe cherries, medium bodied, soft integrated tannins, somewhat over the peak, but still enjoyable in a way
