Delfosse Vineyards and Winery Meritage

I don't usually disagree with the CT average rating on most wines but I must register a dissent here. I know VA wines pretty well, living just across the Potomac in Maryland, and thismismdefinitely one of the better reds. Color: deep dark red with nary a hint that it is seven years old. Virginia's Finest...? (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.) : The last Virginia wine in the tasting was actually good. Ripe gushers candy on the nose, along with raspberry jam. The palate is like strawberries, sugar cane and pancake syrup. It's sweet, but somehow still fresh and quite pleasant. This wine showed more acid than most of the others.

Small taste. Smelled and tasted like desert, was really not into this at all.
